Six Strings of Advanced Projection

Sound your best with the AAD50 Advanced Acoustic from Ibanez. This Sitka spruce-topped sapele instrument outputs tones thriving with articulation, top-end shimmer, and balance. Combined with a grand dreadnought body shape, the AAD50 offers delightful tone packed with depth and plenty of projection. You'll appreciate the easy playability of the AAD50's okoume neck and purpleheart fingerboard, in addition to its chrome die-cast 18:1-gear-ratio tuners that ensure rock-solid intonation. When it comes to Ibanez acoustics that really shine without a massive price tag, the AAD50 is at the top of the list for many strummers at Sweetwater.

What's grander than a dreadnought?

In search of a grander projection and a more robust low end, Ibanez reimagined the dreadnought from the ground up, landing on the shape of the grand dreadnought. This body shape, five percent larger than a standard dreadnought, delivers rich tone, supreme volume, and that powerful low end response they were seeking. Combine this shape with Ibanez X-M bracing and you’ll be treated to crisp treble and a warm midrange to compliment the power of the body shape. The AAD50 takes it further by adding warm and balanced sapele to the back and sides, which ensures a lovely sound whether you're fingerpicking or playing lush chord structures.

Solid sitka spruce top for timeless tone

Sitka spruce has been a preferred top wood among luthiers for decades, thanks to its wide-ranging tonality. The Ibanez AAD50 acoustic features a solid Sitka spruce top, giving this guitar impressive projection and detail. And another benefit of a solid wood top is how it will sound even better as the years go by — the more you play it, the more the top "settles in" to its role as a soundboard, yielding more harmonic richness and depth as it ages.

Ibanez AAD50 Advanced Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • An acoustic you can take to the studio or stage
  • Sitka spruce top and sapele back and sides provide warm, tone with plenty of richness
  • Okoume neck and purpleheart fingerboard offer excellent playability
  • Grand dreadnought body shape is 5% larger than a traditional dreadnought, offer increased volume and powerful low end
  • X-M bracing pattern adds crisp treble and warm midrange
  • 18:1-gear-ratio tuners ensure rock-solid intonation

Best purchase I've made
Sounds amazing! Im so happy with it

Came with a loose neck bolt
This is a beautiful guitar. Love the color and honestly that was a big draw for me. Unfortunately when I started playing I could distinctly hear a rattling sound but not buzzing like string buzz or a loose tuning peg. Upon closer listen, it came from inside the body of the guitar and I could only think a bolt or something was loose. I was afraid that I'd have to take off the strings to resolve the problem. Fortunately, I was able to reach my arm/hand in the soundhole just by slackening the strings, although with a good deal of frustration since it was still challenging to tighten the neck bolt. And just my luck, it was the neck bolt at the worst angle from the soundhole, not the one that was located deeper in the body and more accessible. Could only finger tighten it since there just wasn't any space to maneuver the included allen wrench. I'll have to tighten it further once I replace the original strings. The overall playability of the guitar is great. Action is better than my previous Yamaha. I've got small hands and it definitely feels easier to play, barre chords in particular. Volume is solid too. Default strings are a little too bright for my liking so I'll replace them with warmer sounding strings eventually. For a hobbyist guitar player, this is an excellent option. Just wasn't happy about the loose neck bolt.

Just okay,,, after set-up. Great guitar
The machine head screws needed tightening, some very loose.. Almost 3mm at the 12th fret, horrible action. I shaved the saddle down, and now it is less than 2mm. Cut nut slots deeper to about 15 or 16 thousandths. Neck relief was zero, adjusted truss rod to 8 thousandths at the 7th fret..Good now. Great sound, loud.. For the money, a great guitar after a set up..
Music background: Ive played guitar for 65 or so years... Mostly Country and Bluegrass..
