Stereo Mic Adapter!

The Shure model A27M is a stereo microphone adapter designed to hold two microphones in selectable positions for stereo broadcasting, recording or sound reinforcement. It allows two microphones to share one stand without losing independent positioning flexibility. The A27M permits coincident or closely spaced mounting with a wide range of directional angles, and vertical microphone separations of 1 1/4 inches (31.8 mm), 2 5/8 inches (66.7 mm) or 4 inches (102 mm).

The A27M consists of two vertically stacked sections that rotate on their centers. Each contains a 5/8"-27 threaded stud and locking ring to accept a variety of microphones. The bottom section contains a 5/8"-27 adapter for mounting on a microphone stand. A cable clamp for holding microphone cables is included.

Secure - Easy - Simple - Stereo!

this the coolest setup for stereo mics. very versatile, easy to figure out (comes apart easily - unscrew the bar with the knurled end)), easy to arrange your mics (just loosen the knurled end) and very secure (just tighten the knurled end). simple, stylish and reliable.... for any mic array.

Absolute Best Stereo Bar for XY and ORTF with Small Diaphragm Mics

This is hands-down the best stereo bar for doing XY or ORTF pairs with small diaphragm pencil style mics. It allows you to position the capsules very close together in a way that is impossible with the typical bars that you see packaged with most sets. I'm able to achieve excellent coherent XY imaging with this. It is also possible to adjust the spacing between the two mics to accomodate larger capsules by unthreading the piece that holds it together and flipping the orientation of the two tubes to get the mic holders further apart. It is quite flexible in this regard. Easy to dial in whatever angle you want. After using this, I'd never consider any other stereo bar. My only complaint is that it is rather heavy - which speaks to its build quality - but can be a bit annoying if trying to pack light. Highly recommended.

A GREAT TOOL FOR COINCIDENT STEREO RECORDING

Like many others, I've been chasing the perfect stereo bar for a while. Resisted buying this because of the price vs most others. I became very frustrated recording acoustic guitar with another "perfect" bar last week requiring constant adjustments. Remembered this and just ordered while frustrated. Well……. Frustrated no more! Took less than 2 minutes to set-up and adjust mics. Had XY exactly like I wanted and they never moved. Switched to ORTF for a second song - took less than a minute and they haven't moved. I'm done with other bars.

I did see another review saying it sits too high on the mic stand. I use a short stand with boom for sitting positions. The A27M works perfectly in that set-up.

Solves a problem most models don't

The reason to buy this model instead of the cheaper ones is that this solves the problem of compromising the planar orientation of stereo mics when positioned with coincidental capsule alignment. On this unit, the two adapters are already spaced apart vertically, so your mics can be level to one another. Yay. This is probably only realistic with pencil condensers, but that's what I use for stereo recordings anyway. Any larger body mics could become problematic.
