Deep and Full Vintage Flatwound Tone

La Bella's Flatwound Deep Talkin' Bass strings became a top choice for professional bass players way back in the 1950s, and their popularity has never flagged. Made from hand-polished stainless steel, these flatwound bass strings deliver a profoundly deep and vibrant tone with all the sustain you could ask for, and they retain their tone well after standard flatwounds have gone dead. No strings on the market play as smooth on a standard electric bass, and they feel absolutely luxurious on a fretless. If you're in the market for superior flatwound strings, La Bella's Flatwound Deep Talkin' Bass strings are it.

Note: This set is not suitable for use with string-through-body bridge designs. Also, this set's B string has a 2.125-inch-length taper near its ball end which sits over your saddle to allow for increased intonation. This will require you to raise your saddle accordingly if your instrument was originally set up using a B string without an end taper.

Centuries of expertise in each set of La Bella strings

La Bella strings are the top choice for musicians ranging from world-famous artists such as Willie Nelson, Bryan Adams, and Ron Carter to everyday players like many of us here at Sweetwater. Their heritage reaches back to the Mari family of Salle, Italy, in the seventeenth century, and they became famous throughout Europe, even supplying violin strings to Amati and Stradivari. In the early twentieth century, brothers Emilio and Olinto Mari moved the string operation to New York, founding the modern La Bella company. Today, La Bella strings are considered among the finest in the world, and we think you'll agree when you hear what they can do for your favorite instrument.

Reviews

Deep Talkin' Bass Strings = AWESOME
If you're looking at this and thinking of buying flatwound bass strings, don't even hesitate; DO IT! You won't regret it. I LOVE these strings! After decades of using Rotosound strings, I got disgusted with all the rattly high end, and trying to get any suitable low end while recording. These strings are on ALL my basses, even my Violin Bass (Hofner clone) and Steinberger bass. What a stunning dramatic change these made to my bass tracks. Now I've got that LOW END I've been seeking all these years without effort!

These are very nice strings! So smooth, virtually no mechanical noises and I have never been able to get my action as low as I can now. The tone is amazing with lots of sustain and they play like butter. Buy yourself a set and I am sure you will agree, La Bella strings are awesome! I wish I would have bought these a long time ago.

The strings feel & sound good. They worked our well on the bright sounding Washburn I used them on.
I love these strings.
I have LaBella Nylon tapes on my fretless and fretted P-basses. My 5 string Jazz basses both had rounds and I wanted to get rid of the finger noise so I tried the flats. First impression was they sound wonderful, but I wasn't used to the higher tension, compared to the nylon tapes I have on the P-basses. After two gigs, they felt just fine to me. I may put them on the other 5 string as well.
Music background: Double Bass, Bass Guitar. Orchestra and Stage bands.
Nice strings!
These strings produce a crisp low sound that isn't muddy.
