Deep and Full Vintage Flatwound Tone

La Bella's Flatwound Deep Talkin' Bass strings became a top choice for professional bass players way back in the 1950s, and their popularity has never flagged. Made from hand-polished stainless steel, these flatwound bass strings deliver a profoundly deep and vibrant tone with all the sustain you could ask for, and they retain their tone well after standard flatwounds have gone dead. No strings on the market play as smooth on a standard electric bass, and they feel absolutely luxurious on a fretless. If you're in the market for superior flatwound strings, La Bella's Flatwound Deep Talkin' Bass strings are it.

Centuries of expertise in each set of La Bella strings

La Bella strings are the top choice for musicians ranging from world-famous artists such as Willie Nelson, Bryan Adams, and Ron Carter to everyday players like many of us here at Sweetwater. Their heritage reaches back to the Mari family of Salle, Italy, in the seventeenth century, and they became famous throughout Europe, even supplying violin strings to Amati and Stradivari. In the early twentieth century, brothers Emilio and Olinto Mari moved the string operation to New York, founding the modern La Bella company. Today, La Bella strings are considered among the finest in the world, and we think you'll agree when you hear what they can do for your favorite instrument.

Reviews

Great String! The prefect choice. Thanks Aaron!
I like the flat wounds. And yes, I heard the argument about tone qualities between reg and flats, and to some extent I do agree. However, I grew up on flats playing jazz in SF clubs and studios for several years and like the way they feel and sound. I put these on a 5 string Musicman and it performs outstanding. Not to say that I do not like the wire wounds, I have a set on the P-bass and they sound as great as well. Just a different style of music for both instruments. I play what feels comfortable and right tone for sound for the music I am working with. Both sets a light gauge. Also, thanks Aaron for your input and help.

Awesome Osunding Strings
I switched over to flatwound strings about 30 years ago on my 4-string Kramer, my fretless Kramer and my 5-string Stilletto Studio... I love the versatility of sounds... I started with Fender lights but decided to try the LaBella for this studio session... Awesome strings. If they hold up as long as the Fenders, I'll be a LaBella user for a very long time.

La Bella Deep Talkin flatwounds not for use on an ibanez multiscale 5 string bass
These flatwounds will probably work on a standard scale bass, but on a multiscale bass the silk ends on the low b and e strings don't clear the nut and on the d string the windings go through the the tuning post which La Bella clearly states will cause the string to break. But Wyatt in technical support took care of the problem right away by sending me a set of strings to make sure they would work. FREE OF CHARGE MIND YOU. HOLY COW! I was blown away. Where else would you receive such customer support than Sweetwater. He went above and beyond what any other musical supply company would ever dream of doing. This is just a shining example of what a reputable company Sweetwater is. They take pride in their customer service. It's this kind of integrity that makes them stand head and shoulders above the competition. Correction, what competition! How could another company compete with that! In my opinion Sweetwater was, is, and always will be at the top of the heap. Again WOW. Thanks again Wyatt. If they don't give you a big raise then you deserve a better company to work for. What more can I say. Well I could say more but this is getting long winded. L.O.L.
