'72 Humbucker Clones with All-American Mojo

If you're looking for American-made, vintage-vibe 'buckers for your F-style guitar, look no further than the Mojotone '72 Wide Range Clone Humbucking Pickup Set. These high-quality pickups are made on American soil, in Burgaw, NC, entirely of American parts. They bring back the chime, clarity, and focus of the original '72 F-style wide range humbucker by using threaded magnets rather than the magnetized steel poles used in the '72 reissues. Mojotone also slightly underwinds the neck humbucker, yielding a better tonal balance between the neck and bridge pickup — plus, they use 4-conductor wiring to give you options like coil taps and series/parallel setups. Guitarists at Sweetwater love the sound of Mojotone '72 Wide Range Clone Humbucker Pickups, and we think you will, too!

Mojotone '72 Wide Range Clone Humbucking Pickup Set Features:

  • 1 neck and 1 bridge position American-made humbucker replacement set for your F-style guitar
  • Captures the original pickups' chime, clarity, and focus with significant updates
  • Threaded through-bobbin magnets instead of magnetized steel poles yield authentic tone
  • 4-conductor wiring allows options such as coil tapping and series/parallel setup
  • 500k potentiometers recommended
  • Will not fit standard humbucker cavities; specifically designed to replace '72 reissue humbuckers

Reviews

What they said they installed in the first place but did not.
I own a Squire Thinline Telecaster. It sported what Fender calls "Wide Ranging Pickups". I looked into these because the Pickup set installed sounded okay in the bridge, but the neck was inarticulate and muddy(Honestly this is the one that should shine). I read up about Wide Ranging Pickups. Turns out that they were designed by Seth Lover for Leo Fender to be Humbuckers with characteristics of single coil without the hum, and with an output closer to the PAF's that Gibson was putting out. The term Wide ranging has to do with the size of the pickup. The magnets are the screws, machined out of an alloy CuNiFe. Since the magnets are smaller than a normal bar, there had to be more windings to increase the output. Hence larger pickups. The Original Pickups were larger but also a bar magnet not magnet screws. The instillation wasn't particularly difficult as I used the solder less harness. The sound though is night and day, Chimey, clear, I mean you can hear everything and sweet as pie. its a real joy to play now. I would highly recommend these pups and this company Both Mojotone and Sweetwater. Part of the ease of install was being able to fall back on their experts when I hit a snag. My thanks to the service techs, and my profound thanks to Darius Beatz, the guy who helps me set up my projects.

Color Me Pleasantly Surprised
So these aren't cheap, but they are a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the Lollar Regals that I've previously purchased (twice). Lollar pickups are fantastic in general, and I've bought a lot of them, and I will buy more, but I have to say, to my ears, these mojo clones sound better as a wide range pickup than Lollar's wide range pickups. Wide range humbuckers can be muddy, even when you really dial in the pickup height, and these are more articulate. Well done - just bought my 2nd set.
Super resonsive
Haven't played then a ton yet but if your looking for clarity and warmth these are what you want i did change the pots to 500k with the solderless kit from mojotone holy cow what a pita to get those wires in the green pinch block! I can solder and wish i would have gone that route but i figure it would be faster to go with the prewired ones. Overall very satisfied with them looked at others but liked the fact that these were made with adjustable pole screws which gives you a little more options.
Mojo Tone 72 Humbuckers
I have a Squire 72 Thinline Telecaster. After a fret level, setup and some other mods, it has become a very good playable guitar. Even better to me than more expensive guitars. However, was not happy with the stock pickups. Muddy, dull and inarticulate. I chose the Mojo Tone 72 Clones because the price was decent, the reviews were good and I've used their pots and caps as replacements being very happy with them. So after putting these new pups in, plugging the guitar in and hitting a G chord I instantly had a smile. As I played a bit and made a few adjustments I knew I had made the right choice. Not muddy, clear, articulate and just an overall nice tone. IMHO, I feel my Squire 72 Thinline is on par with my Les Pauls and my USA Fender Deluxe Tele.
Hats off to Mojo Tone, Sweetwater and my Sales Engineer, Allen Finkbeiner.

Really brought the instrument to life.
Purchased to replace the original pups in my 72 tele reissue. WOW. I'm speechless, these sound phenomenal. I mean they really are great pickups. So bright and full of creamy rich tone goodness.
Music background: 10 years guitar.
