A Fabulous Sugarbucker'd '59 'Burst

With strikingly similar looks to a specific example within The Beauty of the ’Burst: Gibson Sunburst Les Pauls from ’58 to ’60 by Yasuhiko Iwanade, this Dealer Select 1959 Les Paul Standard from the Gibson Custom Shop absolutely outshines the pack with historic exclusivity that can only be found at Sweetwater. This stunning guitar features a handpicked AAA flame maple top with a dazzling gloss nitro finish, creating an authentic vintage look with a like-new feel. The non-weight-relieved mahogany body and elegant top binding further enhance its appeal. The mahogany neck, shaped into a substantial yet comfortable 1959 "Medium C" profile, ensures excellent playability. The bound 22-fret rosewood fingerboard is ideal for lightning-fast finger maneuvers. The tone of this Les Paul is driven by two covered double-white Sugarbuckers, marking a Sweetwater-special spin on the classic PAF. Additionally, this Les Paul Standard comes with top-tier hardware, including an ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines. Whether you’re a dedicated Kalamazoo enthusiast or aiming to complete your Les Paul collection, this Gibson Custom Dealer Select 1959 Les Paul Standard is a unique masterpiece.

Dealer Select guitars: curated perfection from Gibson Custom and Sweetwater

This unparalleled instrument wears the badge of Sweetwater and Gibson Custom’s Dealer Select collaboration, a prestigious program that enables us to provide our most discerning customers with custom-spec’d, limited-run Gibson Custom guitars with exclusive features and appointments. Through this initiative, Sweetwater’s guitar experts work closely with artisans from Gibson’s Custom Shops in Nashville and Bozeman, Montana, to dream up inventive and alluring variations of Gibson’s most beloved guitars. From custom finishes to from-the-ground-up tonewood transformations and beyond, our collection of Dealer Select instruments boasts a personalized touch that off-the-shelf production models simply can’t match — and you can only get them at Sweetwater!

Sweetwater-exclusive Sugarbucker pickups

This gorgeous 'Burst comes equipped with a set of Sweetwater Exclusive Sugarbucker pickups. Designed in collaboration with Gibson’s resident pickup-winding wizard, Jared Brandon, Sugarbuckers forgo pure period-correct specs to offer modern players and vintage die-hards a sweeter spin on the classic PAF formula. Loaded with Alnico IV magnets and boasting wax-potted construction, these humbuckers combine legendary PAF clarity with modern, microphonic-free performance. They also feature a very slightly underwound construction, which accentuates the naturally lower-output voice of Alnico IV. It all comes together to form what we’re proud to call our perfect PAF-style humbucker — and you can only get them at Sweetwater!

Hair-raising vintage-style hardware

One of Gibson’s notable achievements in the 1950s was the development of the renowned Tune-o-matic bridge, which enables precise intonation for each string. The patent for this design was awarded to Gibson president Ted McCarty, a fact that has never been disputed; however, only in recent years have his numerous innovations gained widespread recognition. Since its inception, millions of guitars have been crafted with variations of this design. This Dealer Select 1959 Les Paul Standard features an ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge, complemented by a stopbar tailpiece.

Gibson Custom Dealer Select 1959 Les Paul Standard Features:

  • A rare, off-the-pricelist Dealer Select solidbody electric guitar
  • Hand-selected AAA flame maple top with a gloss nitro finish
  • Non-weight-relieved mahogany body with eye-catching top binding
