Reviews

Outside Perspective
Full disclosure I am not the guitar player who uses these, they were purchased for my father and I hear them from the perspective of a drummer, a live sound engineer, and a studio engineer. Both the bass and treble versions were acquired together so I will copy this review to both as it is a review of the pair.

These pickups were installed on a 2002 PRS Custom 24 10top over the stock pickup selection. Coming from the stock selection to these is definitely the way to go if you do not rely on pedals for your tone. The stock pickups sound and feel thin and in the hands of a less experienced guitar player honestly just don't cut it when run straight into a pair of fender tube amps. However the 59/09's have a lot of meat about them while still being controlled enough that the whole stage is buried under guitar saturation. If you run guitar to amp for your sound these do wonders in that you can push for saturation and crunch without losing all clarity rather than the more pedal oriented pickups that had to be pushed to the limits for any actual meat in the sound.

Great pickups
I have a set of these in one of my Satin s2 guitars. The other guitar has a set of 57/08 bass and treble.

The 59/09 pickups seem to be a little more aggressive sounding than the 57/08 but still very articulate and full of PAF vintage chime. You really hear the articulation in low to mid gain applications. The distortion / drive is buttery smooth without any peaks in the frequency response.

These are great pickups - blows away Seymour Duncans, DiMarzio, etc. Priced fairly among the world of boutique pickups such as Bare Knuckle, Rio Grande, etc. I've owned those and can attest to the quality sound.
PRS 59/09 Bass & Trebble Pickups
Great sounding pickups. Very hot and powerful. Well worth the money. If you want a true professional sound, these pickups are just what you need. The tremble pickup will definitely add a kick to your solos.

Great Pickups!!!!!
My number one guitar is a 2002 model PRS CE-24, that I acquired used. It has been my workhorse and go to guitar for almost 2 years. I recently purchased a new Custom 24 with 59/09 pickups and decided to put a set in my CE-24! So glad I did!!!!! There comes a point when your work horse guitar becomes a War Horse!!!

You don't even have to play guitar to know that PRS instruments are in a league of their own. With their exquisitely figured tops and premium appointments, each PRS is a playable work of art. But it goes way deeper than the surface. Every time Paul visits Sweetwater, we get a deeper look at his amazing instruments. We've even hosted several PRS Custom Shop events, complete with Paul's personal Wood Library! Whether they're his most affordable SE electric guitars, top-quality acoustics, or amps, it's always amazing to see what PRS comes up with. What's more, we keep a ton of PRS guitars in our amazing Guitar Showroom, so the staff at Sweetwater can get hands on with all of their latest models. We'd love to tell you all about them.
