Arm Your Axe with 57/08 Humbuckers!

The pickups of choice for many guitarists here at Sweetwater, PRS 57/08 pickups deliver the iconic warmth and responsive tone of 1950s-era guitars. Inspired by 1957 humbuckers and introduced in 2008 (thus the name), 57/08s are handwound at PRS with vintage-style wire (made by the same machine that fabricated all the wire in '50s pickups). Paul Reed Smith's experimentation with vintage-inspired pickup designs culminated with the 57/08 — a pickup that embodies the best sonic qualities of classic humbuckers, along with modern improvements in clarity, consistency, and tone. Available in Treble and Bass versions for bridge- and neck-position deployment in your guitar, PRS 57/08 pickups have been embraced by serious guitar players worldwide, becoming modern classics in their own right. Try a pair in your guitar — you'll be delighted with the tone and responsiveness.

Reviews

Excellent
I replaced the stock Mira pickups in a limited edition PRS KL-33 with these pickups. It tamed the brightness and added a nice thick PAF sound without being muddy. Super range of sounds with the guitar tone knobs alone. Really great pickups.

Great Vintage PAF sound
I put a set of these in my PRS SE McCarty 594 double cut. I replaced the 58/15 LT "S" pickups, which were very nice. These put that guitar over the top though. Very clear articulated notes, even with a good amount of distortion and overdrive. Perfect for rock, classic rock, blues.
Just what I needed
Have a Les Paul standard 60's that I was having a lot of frustration with due to squealing at very moderate volume levels. Picked this set up to keep the same type of sound, but lose the squeal. Worked perfectly! I would say these sounds just a tad hotter then the stockers (60's burstbuckers), but they clean up easily with a small volume adjustment. Or maybe it just seems like they are hotter because I am able to play at a louder volume without the squealing. Either way, extremely happy with the purchase.
Got rid of the muddy 85/15S stocks
Well it was a cross between some aftermarket's or staying with PRS pups and with so many fans of the 57/08 I pulled the trigger. So yes they are really good. The bridge pickup does have that 57 clarity and bite. I did remind me of the 57 I had in my Les Paul. Just the razor fine edge when the volume is up and you hit a good D chord. Much more of an improvement vs the stock S pups. These were loaded into an S2 Custom 24. I am satisfied and glad I paid the demo price. They are low wind but sound great through a Engl Fireball and DSL100H. Next up, the Tremonti

PRS 57/08 HB pickup bridge
Fantastic sounding bridge pickup and perfect match for my 57/08 neck HB I purchased earlier from Sweetwater. Fast delivery as usual. A+++

You don't even have to play guitar to know that PRS instruments are in a league of their own. With their exquisitely figured tops and premium appointments, each PRS is a playable work of art. But it goes way deeper than the surface. Every time Paul visits Sweetwater, we get a deeper look at his amazing instruments. We've even hosted several PRS Custom Shop events, complete with Paul's personal Wood Library! Whether they're his most affordable SE electric guitars, top-quality acoustics, or amps, it's always amazing to see what PRS comes up with. What's more, we keep a ton of PRS guitars in our amazing Guitar Showroom, so the staff at Sweetwater can get hands on with all of their latest models. We'd love to tell you all about them.
