50 Watts of Arena-filling Volume

Don't let the EVH 5150 III Head's size fool you, it packs a serious punch. This 50-watt amp is loaded with seven 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6L6s in its power section, delivering enough arena-filling volume and copious tonal attitude to rattle the windows and shake the rafters. Three channels with comprehensive tone-sculpting control supply you with plenty of sonic possibilities. Dial up chimey cleans for rhythm work, hit the included footswitch to call up tasty crunch, then hit it again for face-melting lead tones. For massive volume and tone in a compact package, check out EVH's 5150 III Head.

Big volume in a scaled-down chassis

The EVH 5150 III Head gives you bone-crunching, arena-filling volume — in a compact, lightweight chassis. If loud is your band's thing, the 5150 III Head's two 6L6s are only too happy to oblige — putting out 50 watts into 16-, 8-, or 4-ohm loads. This gives you lots of freedom when considering speaker cabinets to build your rig. Whether you choose EVH's compact 212, 112, or traditional straight-front 412 cab, one thing's for sure — your bandmates (and audience) will have a hard time believing the 5150 III Head is only a 50-watt amp!

Copious tone mojo — and the means to control it

With the EVH 5150 III Head, you get an invitation to an all-you-can-eat buffet of tantalizing tones. The 5150 III Head is not all about how much stage volume it spits out. Once you come to grips with how loud it is, you realize that this little head gives you an amazing degree of tone-sculpting control. A Resonance control tailors the amp to different cabs. A global Presence control dials in the perfect amount of bite. You also get a shared 3-band EQ for channels 1 and 2 and an independent EQ for channel 3. Channels 1 and 2 feature dual-concentric Gain and Volume controls for independent control of each channel. From glassy cleans to full-on pyroclastic surge, the EVH 5150 III Head is a tone monster.

A classic American amp

The EVH 5150 III Head is based on a classic amp — the legendary EVH 5150. As Edward Van Halen's personal statement on guitar tone, the basic design has been rocking stages around the globe since the early '90s. Now in its third iteration, the 5150 III Head has been refined and updated with the latest technology and is available in the original 100-watt version as well as the amazingly loud and compact EVH 5150 III Head.

EVH 5150 III 50W Tube Head Features:

  • 3-channel, 50-watt compact guitar head with 6L6 power tubes

Reviews

Awesome
Just received this amp today and tested it out and all I can say is awesome it gave me the tone I have been searching for a while now thanks sweet water wonderful job.
Last Amp you will ever need.
This has got to be by far the most amazing amplifier I have ever played. It handles great rhythm tones add amazing lead tones. You can chug away to your heart's desire and handles tight low tunings really well.
I use this Amp with 6/7/8/9 string guitars and they all sound great.

I am currently running my amp into a torpedo reload and out to 2 2x12 EVH cabs.
Music background: I play 6, 7, 8 and 9 string guitars. Been playing guitar since I was 14yrs old. I love EVH and heavy metal overall.
Great Pallette of Tones
I've had this head from Sweetwater for a few years now. It is reliable and sounds great. Blue Channel gives a great grinding metal rhythm tone and the Red Channel has more gain than needed, but is warm and articulate with the preamp gain low. The effects loop is transparent and a soaring lead was easy to dial in with a delay and reverb. The Green Channel is a basic clean that breaks up quickly.
Fantastic versatile amp
Great amp overall. The dual concentric pots for channel 1 and 2 are a great upgrade over the 1st model. I can get tones from a true clean, to mid gain crunch, and obviously the insane high gain this amp is known for. The blue channel responds well to the volume control of my guitar and cleans up nicely. I do find the power and standby switches being on the back a little annoying but I guess necessary due to space. Not sure what tubes EVH is using now since all of mine were unlabeled. I swapped out the preamp tubes for a tone kit from a well known tube supplier and noticed a big improvement in tone and noise reduction. A Revv G8 makes it super quiet as well. Overall I'm really happy with the amp. Using a Line6 Helix via 4 cable method and this amp, I can get just about any tone I want out of it.
Whole lotta tone.
Excellent amp head. I will not go below 50 watts, my other heads are all 100 and 120 watts. For 50 watts I was able to get every tone I wanted. Channel 1 (green), The cleans are great. Channel 2 (blue) has enough gain for a great Van Halen style rhythem tone. I set it pretty high and push it over the top with a boss sd1 overdrive, and its excellent enough for a great lead tone as well. Channel 3 (Red) is so over the top amazing, I barely set the gain on that channel to under half way and it just kills. I couldnt be happier!!
