Sound-shaping powerhouse
The sheer scope of what you can do with the Spectral Multiband Resonator is mind boggling. At its simplest, it's a filter-bank effect that adds a series of harmonics to your sound, but that's only the beginning. It doesn't take much to go far beyond that effect, crafting chimes that ring out over your original tone for bell-like effects. You can instantly tune the harmonics to set intervals to create chords, and between switching chords on the fly with the Rotate (scale) knob and controlling the width of the intervals with the Spread knob, you can create continuously shifting melodic elements and more. Best of all, there's enough digital control onboard the Spectral Multiband Resonator that you can store and recall your six favorite settings, so you can experiment as much as you like.
Quickly dial in complex settings
One of the things that Sweetwater synth nuts love about Eurorack gear isn't just that it puts actual knobs and hands-on controls at your fingertips, but it's how extensive that control can be, and the Spectral Multiband Resonator is a superb example of this. Across its 26HP surface, the Spectral Multiband Resonator offers you about two dozen knobs and switches that you can use to quickly define the base of the effect. These include everything from the graphic sliders, which let you judge the contour of all six resonators at once, to the central scale controller, which lets you instantly redefine the tonal relationship between each frequency band and your material.
Extensive CV control plays well with others
Another cool thing about the Spectral Multiband Resonator is that virtually every function includes CV connectivity, so you can craft insanely flexible and complex sounds that enjoy the full benefit of your modulation sources. One great way to use this is to patch an LFO into Band 1 and flip on the CV Slew function. This will cause the Spectral Multiband Resonator to act like a sweeping resonant comb filter, and if you add on Morph, you'll get this amazing cross-fading effect between the frequencies for an additional layer of harmonic complexity. And with envelope outputs and more, the Spectral Multiband Resonator can have a huge impact on other modules down the line as well.
