Great Strings
As a professional muscian who has been playing out for 25 years I'm always looking for the perfect sound and tone on my Taylor accoustic guitars when they are plugged in for performance and these strings ring out warm and clear and they are my go to strings
Music background: Professional Muscian
Great clarity without over doing it
These 12's 80/20 are very clear and last longer than the old Martin strings. Great for finger picking. Makes my Martin OMC-E 28 sound like a monster. When you flat pick it sounds louder than my D-18 with 13's, and that's saying a lot. If I record I usually use Di Addario 80/20 or Phos/bronze 12's though; but unplugged these are great !
Music background: Life long musician
Finally found them!!
Just got my order in the mail cant wait to put them on! Thank you for the service and the speed on the arrival was perfect!!!
Music background: I play rock n roll and blues
"Welcome Back Old Friend..." Great traditional, classic 80/20 strings
I got a Guild F30R, but I would use these Martin Originals on my Guild dreads too...
When I was a kid and first playing acoustic guitar, the guitar shop owner would give me Martin strings, just their bare bones 80/20 string set. Not even the Marquis with the wrapped ball ends, just the original Martin 80/20 Bronze strings.
I played on these strings for years, then spent years and years trying out other strings, mostly D'Addario PB12s (EJ16), but really, like most of you, I have been all over the map with strings....

Well, as I only buy my strings from Sweetwater, I noticed they had these new Martin "Original" .12-.54 80/20 strings, and I knew these had to be the old Martin strings I played as a kid.

And they are! Great feel, great tone and projection, and just so familiar to me.

And at $5.49 with SW's ever free shipping and some candy for my kids, I plan on just buying these for a while...
A bit underwhelming
After trying many different brands (D'Addario, Ernie Ball, etc) I settled on Martin MA140 "Authentic Acoustic" 80/20 bronze, they give me the best performance and tone on my Martin 000 rosewood custom, Ive used them for years. I saw these new M140 "Original Acoustic" 80/20's and thought I'd give them a try. These strings are strikingly different from the MA140's - the bottom is much more subdued, they don't seem to speak with that distinctive rich and balanced "Martin bottom" end that I get with the MA140's, and they seem overly bright on the top end. I'll play these strings out and go right back to my MA140's. Your mileage may vary but these strings don't work well for me on this guitar. I have other Martin acoustics but I won't be trying these on them.
Music background: 50+yrs exp guitar, drums
