A full 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response captures every nuance of your drum, while a 164dB max SPL accommodates a thumping kick without breaking a sweat. What's more, this kick drum mic is near impervious to feedback — a must for live sound applications. The 4055 features an asymmetrical design and an integrated XLR connector for easy placement inside or outside a drum, and its rugged housing and heavy-duty grille tackle the rigors of stage and studio with aplomb. Optimized open cardioid polar pattern
When DPA designed the 4055, they found that the optimal polar pattern for this type of microphone is an open cardioid, which falls between a cardioid and wide cardioid. While most kick drum mics feature a cardioid polar pattern, DPA's blind tests confirmed that the wider open cardioid pattern produced the best sound.
