Endless Creative Looping Possibilities in a Compact Module

With a staggering five minutes of looping time and four recording modes, the 2HP Loop Eurorack module is a brilliant device for straightforward layering and ambient exploration — and it’s all packed into an ultra-compact 2HP module! For traditional looping, select the Sound on Sound mode and layer parts to your heart’s delight. Dub mode allows you to queue up new sections, for evolving performances. Get glitchy with Replace mode, which destructively replaces previously recorded content. Finally, swim into infinite waves of decaying echoes with Frippertronics mode, inspired by legendary progressive guitarist Robert Fripp’s signature tape looping method. Synthesists at Sweetwater appreciate the 2HP’s intuitive interface for fluid improvisation — with half-speed and reverse playback and a record gate input, the 2HP Loop offers endless possibilities for creative looping!

Pretty fun module that could be improved slightly
I bought this to add to a small(ish, 64HP) self-generative ambient eurorack. The small form factor is of course a plus, the buttons and knobs are laid out well enough to not accidentally move or bump anything. The online manual is clear and the functions are clear.

I've spent a few hours playing with it and it was instantly able to do what I wanted to do - which was layer self-generative stuff together to create large, melodic-ambient soundscapes. It works very well, especially in 'Frippertronics' mode. It's fairly easy to integrate into a rack and use.

Downsides: Within only an hour or so, I wished it was in stereo. There's certainly not a way to make it stereo without upping the HP (this is from 2HP, after all) but that would have made it better. My workaround was to route my Plaits signal into it first and then run it into Clouds and use that for stereo separation. It works well in this aspect.

Another downside is the depth. It is a fairly deep module, with part of the circuit board attached only via two groups of jumper headers, which makes it feel a little flimsy and breakable. Be pretty careful with your power cables / installing in your case as to not bend or break the little headers. It seems like there could be a better, more sturdy option for mounting the majority of the board instead of relying on two groups of like 4 headers.

All in all, if you're looking for a tiny looper (and are mesmerized by much more in-depth loopers like Morphagene, Lubadh, or Arbhar) then it's worth a shot. Obviously the scope of its function is not the same as those other modules, but I found a lot of fun in looping and layering. So far it has worked great for my ambient / soundscape stuff. Looping percussion through it is a little more tricky, as with looping any percussion, you have to be exactly on beat otherwise you don't get a clean loop (the CV-controlled REC parameter could help here).

Could be improved, but still very functional, especially considering the price.
