Taylor’s Captivating Koa 224ce Deluxe!

Taylor’s workhorse 200 series takes a luxurious leap with the 224ce-K DLX Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar. This creation hits the spot onstage or off with a bold koa-infused sound and outstanding visual appeal! Layered koa back and sides and a solid koa top deliver a balanced sound made slightly punchier by the sass and sparkle of koa’s unforgettable midrange. Koa pairs perfectly with Taylor’s ergonomic Grand Auditorium body shape — its narrow waist highlights fundamentals with a tight focus that adds modern clarity to any recording or live performance. Moreover, the 224ce-K DLX Grand Auditorium plays even better than it sounds! An ebony fingerboard keeps the strings soft to the touch, an invaluable feature for solo singer/songwriters, players with small hands, or anyone who spends significant time gigging or recording. Players on the hunt for a stunning, hard-working instrument should look no further than the Taylor 224ce-K DLX from Sweetwater!

Curated koa and other tonewoods

The finest koa tonewood grows only on the Hawaiian Islands among the extremes of tropical weather and rugged volcanic mountainsides. In Hawaiian, koa means “bold,” which describes its stunning wood grain and unique acoustic tone. The 224ce-K DLX features a gloss-finished koa top, layered koa back and sides, and a mahogany neck topped with an ebony fingerboard and Sentinel inlays. The 224ce-K’s neck shape offers matchless comfort, even when reaching for high frets where a Venetian cutaway supports extra access. What’s more, like any koa guitar, the 224ce-K DLX opens up with additional low-end warmth the more it’s played over time.

Grand Auditorium body style

Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 224ce-K DLX, employs the width and depth of the dreadnought. But its narrower waist gives Grand Auditorium-bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look with remarkable high-end response — helping to sharpen the definition of each note. And the comfort of this body style is a huge reason the 224ce-K DLX is a popular instrument for live performance. From fingerpicking to strumming, the 224ce-K DLX Grand Auditorium is an excellent choice for nearly every playing style.

Cutting-edge Taylor Expression System 2 electronics

Amplified players are going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 electronics built into the 224ce-K DLX! The ES2 system features a revolutionary segmented pickup located behind the bridge saddle; this pickup position delivers remarkably accurate and clear sound production that’s authentic to your playing. Each ES2 system features a handy master volume knob for fast level adjustments, in addition to a 2-band EQ for independent treble/bass adjustments to get the sound you need. Plus, the ES2 system also has a built-in phase switch, which offers essential feedback suppression whenever the system is active.

Taylor 224ce-K DLX Features:

  • Contoured all-purpose Grand Auditorium body style elevated with deluxe appointments and koa tonewoods
  • Koa top, back, and sides yield a balanced, punchy tone, similar to mahogany, with gorgeous woodgrain on display
  • Mahogany neck with Taylor's signature neck carve supports all-purpose comfort with effortless fretting
  • Ebony fingerboard with 20 frets keeps strings silky-smooth to the touch
  • Venetian cutaway expands upper-fret access
  • NuBone nut, Taylor tuners, and ebony bridge enhance tone and reliability
  • ES2 electronics system with 2-band EQ ensures plugged-in tone that's full and authentic

Reviews

AMAZING GUITAR!
Beautiful wood, plays smooth, slightly warmer tone than Taylor's I've played in the past. I like where the tone/volume controls are located. I would highly recommend this instrument to the serious musician. Thanks to Joe and all the Sweetwater folks for the help they provided. I wouldn't buy anywhere else!
Very Warm, with long sustain
A nice acoustic! Very warm, with a long resonating sustain. I put 10 gauge strings on to brighten it up slightly but I probably will go with 11s next time. Did a slight truss rod adjustment recently, very minimal because a little goes a long way before you start buzzing too much. Great amplified sound with finger style and strumming. This guitar does not have a string ground so you may experience humming if your wall outlet is not grounded. Did a quick hand wax on it a few days ago, and it shines! Beautiful wood grain. This is my second Taylor, and the build quality is definitely there!
Gorgeous guitar, plays like a dream
I can't believe this was a demo. The guitar arrived earlier than expected, and since it's winter I left it in the box for the recommended 24 hours, plus about six extra hours. The case was inside a box, and an outer carton was packed extremely well. The 55 point inspection is legit! The guitar plays perfectly with no fret buzz anywhere. I'm very happy with the playability and the tone. I will be plugging it in eventually but wanted to share my experience and my Christmas gift from my wife.

Taylor
I cannot say enough about my new Taylor acoustic. It looks amazing & sounds even better! I look so forward getting home to play her!
Taylor 224ce k dlx Sales person Tony
Shout out to Tony who was able to get my new Taylor shipped and delivered in time for a scheduled event. After a horrible experience with another supplier, Tony was able to get the guitar at my house one day prior to the show. FYI, the new 224ce k dlx was delivered in perfect condition and plays great.

Thank you
Larry from Central Missouri.
