210ce: The Taylor Dreadnought You’ve Been Missing!

The 210ce acoustic-electric guitar from Taylor pairs formidable dreadnought power with superb Taylor comfort and voicing. Select cuts of spruce and layered walnut give the 210ce remarkable presence and a familiar sound that’s thicker and more vintage-inspired than the average Taylor acoustic. A solid spruce top conjures up heaps of volume; meanwhile, walnut back and sides provide hearty foundations that adapt well to soft or aggressive techniques. Factor in ES2 electronics and a Venetian cutaway, and you’re set for luxurious playability onstage or off! Furthermore, the 210ce features C-Class bracing beneath the hood, translating Taylor’s signature sound to a large and loud dreadnought by reigning in booming bass. All in all, the 210ce dreadnought from Sweetwater is an incredible all-purpose acoustic-electric primed for the bright lights.

Vivid tonewoods with a classic voice

Players look to Taylor’s 200 series for incredible tonewoods at a great price, and the 210ce is no exception! Prime cuts of spruce and walnut fuel this acoustic-electric dreadnought’s classic voice. The 210ce takes what makes Sitka spruce great — the clarity, power, and dynamism — and makes them even better through a roasting process (torrefaction) that removes moisture. The result is enhanced musicality, reduced weight, and an extra-bold look. Layered walnut back and sides support spruce with a compelling presence that bridges the richness of mahogany and the clarity of rosewood or maple. Lastly, the 210ce’s smooth mahogany neck and comfortable Taylor neck carve keep fatigue at bay, with exceptional support for traversing the ebony fingerboard.

Dreadnought body style with cutaway

The 210ce employs the most popular acoustic guitar body style of all time, but this isn’t merely a dusty design pulled from 1932. Taylor carefully enhanced the 210ce to play and sound like a Taylor that’s a tad more muscular than slimmer body styles such as the Grand Auditorium. Players who love powerful bass and lasting sustain will love how this dreadnought vibrates and responds. And proprietary C-Class bracing helps deliver the studio-ready sound that Taylors are known for worldwide. From fingerpicking to strumming, the 210ce is a phenomenal choice.

Taylor's Expression System 2

Taylor's Expression System 2 uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup's three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors respond organically to the instrument's acoustic energy as it's transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor's custom-designed preamp, the result is a natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness. Sweetwater's guitar gurus are mightily impressed with Taylor's Expression System 2.

Taylor 210ce Dreadnought Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Torrefied spruce top provides a lively and up-front energy
  • Layered walnut back and sides enhance presence and sustain
  • Single-cut dreadnought body style presents a full-bodied sound with easier high-fret access
  • Mahogany neck delivers swift, efficient, and comfortable playability across the ebony fingerboard
  • Nubone nut ensures an incredibly balanced string response
  • C-Class bracing improves projection, sustain, and bass response
  • Sealed, die-cast tuners support exceptional string stability and accurate intonation in any setting
  • Taylor ES2 electronics with Tone and Volume controls translate natural acoustic tones with ease

Reviews

Beautiful piece
Love the tone, it's easy to play, it stays in tune. It's a beautiful piece.
Music background: Beginner
Big Sound - Taylor ES2 is worthless
It's a good thing the dreadnought has a big voice because the electronics are worthless. Plugging into a clean amp (wih headphones), I hear all sorts of squeaks and feedback. Adjusting the three screws by the saddle doesn't make much difference. The tone is very scratchy. Had I known, I would not have opted for a Taylor brand. The phase switch does not improve the feedback.
Not as expected
In the store it sounded great. When I got home and amped it (two different acoustic amps), not good. Nice looking guitar but had pretty high action and you have to take the neck off and change shims to correct it. Not good. Their pickup design sure is different. Not even close to an under saddle pickup. Not mellow and sweet like I like. Kinda harsh sounding. Took it back and traded it for another brand. Also, couldn't get used to that brilliant white binding on the top and back. Looked weirdly out of place. Just not for me.
Overrated and over priced
The workmanship is not very good even compared to my other two inexpensive acoustics. Sound is harsh and not very smooth. No tool to adjust the pickup and no instructions. The two top book matched pieces are different in color. Something strange where the neck joins the body. Obvious splinters visible inside the back piece. Way overpriced. Mexico doesn't cut it when it comes to quality. The action is too high and with the straight neck and low seated saddle, it might be impossible to lower the action to a playable level. Playing up the neck is extremely difficult. Playing it un-amped is OK, but playing it through my acoustic amp leaves much to be desired. My Washburn and Lag are much better built guitars with much better sound. The only positive about this guitar is the perfect intonation. The gig bag is light and is capable of protecting the instrument but not acceptable for storing accessories. After 60 years of playing, I would put the value of this guitar in the four to five hundred dollar range. The workmanship is not very good for a guitar with Taylor's reputation. I probably will not use it for a live performance and just use it as a practice guitar at home. Much better guitars out there at a much lower cost. Definitely would not recommend at their price. Look elsewhere.
