A New Legacy of Bass Amplification
Designed by Gallien-Krueger founder/president Bob Gallien, the RB Legacy 2001 leverages five years of design, 20 revisions, and thousands of lab hours to bring players a bass amplifier head of unparalleled quality. The RB Legacy 2001 houses a high-output 2,000-watt Class H power amplifier, enabling you to really ride the rails for a powerful, growling sound. Want to keep it clean? The RB Legacy 2001’s adjustable limiter tames your signal peaks, reducing transients and minimizing distortion. Three selectable filters allow you to revoice the amplifier, putting a whole sonic arsenal at your command — one that you can shape further with an active variable-Q 4-band EQ. You also get a Boost switch, capable of everything from subtle fattening to full-on distortion, that you can tailor to perfection with the Edge knob. The RB Legacy 2001 boasts a studio-quality headphone amplifier for silent playing sessions, as well as onboard cabinet simulation for red-hot DI-ed tones. Complete with a near-bulletproof machined metal enclosure, the RB Legacy 2001 delivers a rock-solid punch that never quits.

Stadium-shaking Class H power
When we first got our hands on the RB Legacy 2001 here at Sweetwater, one thing was immediately clear: this amplifier was built for stadium-shaking output. Rated at 2,000-watt bursts into 2 ohms bridged or 1,000-watt bursts per channel into 2 ohms in a dual mono configuration, this bass head’s Class H power amplifier comprises two power supplies: one dedicated to lower output levels and one designed to tackle higher output levels. This design not only bolsters the amplifier’s reliability, but also enables you to ride the rails at maximum output with zero worries about overheating or blowouts. Even at top volumes, the RB Legacy 2001 remains responsive and defined. Moreover, pushing this amp hard produces a gut-punching growl that’s — in our opinion — an absolute thrill ride. Nevertheless, if you’re aiming for something a bit tamer, the RB Legacy 2001 includes an adjustable limiter designed to pull your signal off the rail to keep your output clean.
A universe of tones at your disposal
The Gallien-Krueger RB Legacy 2001 is far from a one-trick pony. It includes three filters — Bump, Contour, and Presence — that enable you to revoice the amplifier for a bottom-heavy, mid-scooped, or cutting sound, respectively. Best of all, regardless of the selected filters, the amplifier maintains a neutral volume, so you won’t need to keep adjusting your output level every time you tweak your tone. Like all GK bass amplifiers, the RB Legacy 2001 features an active variable-Q EQ to shape your sound. You also get a Boost switch for fattening up your sound, which you can also use to drive the amp into distortion. An Edge knob is also on hand for putting the final touches on your tone.

Spellbinding speaker-less sounds
Looking for stellar sound during silent rehearsals? The RB Legacy 2001 has you covered. Inspired by high-end studio units, the RB Legacy 2001’s onboard Class A headphone amplifier handles headphones from 8 to 300 ohms, enabling you to benefit from studio-quality sound anywhere you want to play. The RB Legacy 2001 also includes built-in cabinet simulation, which allows you to enjoy the sound — and feel — of a miked-up cab with your DI or headphone signal.
