Tonally Accurate Reissue of the Iconic JTM45

The Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker tube combo amplifier is based on the JTM45, widely considered to be the definitive '60s Marshall. With 30-watts of power channeled through dual 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speakers, you'll command the legendary guitar tones of '60s rock legends. The 1962 Bluesbreaker's sonic sweetness comes courtesy of a GZ34 tube rectifier, which imparts the natural sustain and compression the JTM45 was famed for. Simply put, you'll love how it sounds - and feels - to play through the Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker tube combo amplifier.

Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker Tube Combo Amplifier at a Glance:
  • Your guitar will sing
  • Celestion Greenback speakers
  • Low wattage for a vintage Marshall
Your guitar will sing

If vintage blues and rock tones are what you crave, then you'll love the Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker. Take a hint from the name - this isn't a high-gain amp for metal, nor is it a programmable, multi-channel monster. This is the guitar tone that shaped the sound of '60s blues and rock, from sweet and smooth clean tones to overdriven, growling dirt. One channel and basic tone controls are all that's needed for iconic tone, and the built-in tremolo sounds so vintage you'll be playing "Born on the Bayou" for days. And if you need to push the 1962 Bluesbreaker to the limit, just put your favorite gain boost pedal in front of it and listen to your guitar sing.

Celestion Greenback speakers

Marshall chose Celestion Greenback speakers for their unquestionable vintage rock tone. Think rich midrange, a warm low-frequency response that's neither too tight nor too loose, and a gentle high-frequency roll-off that sounds right whether you're playing clean or full-bore. You'll instantly recognize the classic sound when you hear it, and it's the perfect foundation for rock and blues guitar.

Low wattage for a vintage Marshall

The 1962 Bluesbreaker is a reissue of the classic Marshall JTM45 amp, which only use 30 watts of power to create its epic tones. That's pretty low power when you consider Marshall's other models at the time. But 30 watts is perfect for live use in small to medium sized venues, and it's ideal for recording. You can get the sound of a fully pegged tube amp at a much more reasonable volume level, reducing mic bleed in your studio and your onstage volume when gigging out.

Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker Tube Combo Amplifier Features:
  • Accurate reissue of the legendary JTM45 amplifier, with two 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speakers
  • 30 watts of power - perfect for gigging and recording
  • GZ34 tube rectifier adds natural, smooth compression and sustain to your tone
  • Footswitchable tremolo sounds amazing
  • Straightforward control set is all you need to craft a range of vintage '60s guitar tones
Take control of the iconic tones of rock's revolutionary days with the Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker tube combo amplifier!

Amazing
I have a 87 plexi repro, a 68 fender delux repro and now this Bluesbreaker, the Bluesbreaker stands head and shoulders above the rest, worth every penny
The Holy Grail for me.
It's a beast. I have the 2245 and its not the same. The 2245 has that classic slick Plexi high end sizzle like on ZZ Top's Tush. And I like that. But this does not have that. It is a fat warm woody clean. It makes a Les Paul sound like a hollow body. Every note has that pop to it like striking 2X4's together. It's percussive. A firecracker opened up at 8. Truly the Beano sound. It's tight. It's punchy from low E to high E. It's has a wide EQ range. So this can be used at any volume as a nice fat warm clean tone base with any music. Sparkle all day. It's heavy. It needs a roadie. But it is so worth it. Nothing like it. I have found my amp.
My Clapton set is complete, and wow!!
I purchased years ago the Eric Clapton tweed Twinolux amp in this same combo size. I'm a Clapton fanatic. That is awesome playing his signature Strat. I wanted the Bluesbreaker to pay homage to his Mayall performances. Shout out to Patrick Cavanaugh for sales rep awesomeness as always. I love this new amp and it complements the Twinolux historically and perfectly.
Music background: rockabilly and blues
Awesome…
Is this the amp Chris Buck played in a 6 minute video
2 minutes playing 4minutes talking?
If it is I'm buying one!

Chris Buck Plays Milestone Marshalls Pt 1: The Bluesbreaker Combo
The Ultimate Vintage Tone
I have been wanting one of these for years. I have a full stack at home which I use for rehearsals. It consists of a 1973 50w Marshall head, a 2012 angled HW series cab and an original 1969 straight B cab, all of which sounds epic. However when I was at my amp tech's house picking up a repair, I noticed a 2014 Blues Breaker RI in mint condition sitting on the floor of his basement. It blew my mind but could not justify the price even though it was my dream amp despite what I already owned. I left his place and did a little thinking and could never get the BB out of my mind. To offset the price, I sold my 1966 Fender Bassman Blackface Piggy back for $3000 and low and behold that's what my amp tech and I settled on for the BB.

Every bit worth the coin for these amps and the tone was beyond my wildest dreams.

They will have to bury me with this amp because I will never let it go EVER!!

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
