Vintage Marshall Goodness

Marshall Amplification has been responsible for some of the most iconic sounds in rock 'n' roll history. And as many classic designs as they have, there is really only one original Marshall sound, thanks to their 25-watt Celestion Greenback-loaded 4 x 12" speaker cabinet. Now you can get that '70s checkered grille cloth look and the same sound heard on countless records without the headaches of a vintage piece of gear with the Marshall 1960AX 4 x 12" speaker cab. Plug in your amp and guitar and crank it all the way up into your Marshall 1960AX speaker cabinet.

Marshall 1960AX 4 x 12" Speaker Cabinet at a Glance:
  • Vintage tone from the Celestion G12-25 25-watt Greenback speakers
  • Vintage Marshall looks
Vintage tone from the Celestion G12-25 25-watt Greenback speakers

Because they are very responsive, with more peaks in the upper mids and highs, many famous guitar solos got their voice with the G12-25 Greenback. The G12-25 is based on the first speaker produced by Celestion to feature a ceramic magnet assembly. Every subtlety of the player's dynamic style comes through perfectly clear, and their warmth and woodiness compresses in a way that is musical and very forgiving for the player. The Greenback is a must-have speaker for anyone seeking classic rock 'n' roll tone.

Vintage Marshall looks

The Marshall 4 x 12" 1960AX speaker cabinet doesn't only nail the classic sound of Marshalls from the past, but you also get that same visually striking tower of goodness behind you onstage, as well. The 1960AX cabinets are made with the 1970s style checkered grill cloth and vintage-looking Tolex with white piping. These Marshall 1960AX speaker cabinets are every bit as beautiful-looking as they are legendary-sounding.

Reviews

Marshall 1960AX
A Marshall with 25 watt Greenbacks what more needs to be said. Sounds incredible, just buy one.
Marshall 1960AX Cabinet
Marshall has made this, And it is Great! I have the original Cabs, But found this as a mint clean version that sounds and is built Exact. A Great Cab with the HW plexiglass 100 head!
Music background: TV Series. World Tours. Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Deep Purple, And many others
Great cabinet
This thing sounds and looks amazing. I am very pleased. I use this with a JTM45 and a JCM800 heads. I always played these thru a 1x12 orange enclosure. All I can say is wow what a difference.
Music background: Used to play bars. Now I’m just a hobbyist
It's a 10
Not only is this cabinet beautiful it is the best sounding of the six Marshall 4x12 cabs I own. The G12 speakers are not as buzzy sounding as V30 and not as flabby as 65 watt standards. Not as bright as a NEO. Just right. There's a reason Eddie Van Halen adopted a version of the G12 for his products, they sound like rock.

I began using Marshall cabinets regularly in 1975 and this one has the sweet sound of those early speakers.

I ordered it and had to wait six months for it to arrive. Worth it! This IS the best sounding Marshall 4x12!

Good music to you!
Music background: Retired, loving life and my wife, recovering from Cancer Surgery
Great cab
I've had this cab for about 2 years now and can't say enough good things about it. To me, it just sounds "right". The cabinet itself resonates nicely and isn't nearly as directional as my other cabs. Kind of like if you are off to the side of it, it still is making a nice sound there. When you are directly in front, it's not blowing your head off with volume or high end. It kind of has a wider dispersion than my other cabs. The tone of the greenbacks with this cabinet just seems to work well no matter what amp it is paired with, and I have maybe 15 amps from blackface fenders through vox through marshalls and some newer stuff like a splawn. The other cabs I can compare too are a trace elliot 4x12 with v30s, a custom made cab from Canada that currently has old celestion 70's greenbacks, another peavey 412 with g12h30s and 75's, a splawn 2x12 which either had a v30 and cream back or 2 cream backs in it. Basically I've swapped speakers all around in those other cabs, but none of them ever sound as nice as this cabinet. Icing on the cake is it's about as pretty a cabinet as you could hope for. Highly recommended.
Music background: Experienced

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
