Big, Dark Cymbals for Today's Demanding Drummer

This supersized cymbal pack from the Sabian HHX Legacy line — Dave Weckl's signature cymbal series — is brimming with rich, handcrafted B20 musicality. HHX Legacy cymbals are highly responsive and touch dynamic, with an immeasurable range of applications, from jazz to rock, pop to symphonic. The 15005XLN is tonally matched and ready to go to work for you. Its 15-inch hi-hats are throaty and pre-EQed, with a smoky wash that will slap a smile across the face of any jazz cat within earshot. The 19-inch crash is buttery smooth and mysterious, with a top-end shimmer that floats to the top of a mix. Last up is the astonishingly balanced 22-inch Legacy Ride, which sports virtually endless tonal options from ping to bell to crash — a true master's cymbal, and one fit for Weckl himself.

Handcrafted from B20 bronze

Working with B20 bronze alloy is not for the faint-hearted. In its natural state, this fusion of 80% copper and 20% tin is brittle and often requires extensive reworking and annealing to achieve the desired results. But in Sabian's master's hands, this alloy sings like none other. Moody and dark to bright and musical, Sabian's guarded B20 alloy is the engine that drives the HHX Legacy series, exemplified here in the 15005XLN HHX Legacy cymbal set from Sweetwater.

Sabian HHX Legacy Cymbal Set 15"/19"/22"
I was in need of an upgrade from the Sabian XSR cymbal pack (which is a great set of cymbals at that price point if you're starting out playing drums). Since I'm upgrading everything in my studio to accommodate musicians with professional equipment to attract more clientele and to do my own recordings. I decided to go with the Sabian Legacy 15" hi-hats, 19" crash and the 22" ride cymbal pack. I figured, they were developed by Dave Weckl and Sabian, if they're good enough for Dave Weckl, they're good enough for me. Sure enough, these cymbals are off the charts!!! The hi-hats have a sizzle that's incredibly pleasing to the ear. They're not clanky sounding but, smooth and defined. Also when feathering the wash is great and the stick definition is crisp and clear for drummers who like dancing on the hi-hat. The 19" crash is dark but, can cut through the mix with no problem with great sticking and swell. This type of cymbal needs to complimented with additional cymbals 10" splash, 16" fast crash and 18" fast crash to cover the whole spectrum from hi to low crashes. Lastly, the 22" ride has great swell, crash, sticking and the best part is the bell. The ping on the bell is amazing, like off the hook man. These cymbals can be used with just about any genre, funk, smooth jazz, standard jazz, R&B, soul and so on. I'm glad I made this purchase through Sweetwater with the help of my personal go to guy, sales engineer Tony Greer. We went through every detail about the cymbals, great knowledgeable tech with outstanding customer service and a real cool guy. All I need now is the Evolution cymbal pack to finish out the drum kit. Great experience all around! A++++

Love them
The hats, the ride, the crash... So good. I'm happy I made the move over to thinner cymbals like these. They took a little bit of time to get used to since I hit hard, but now I'm that getting settled in on them, I see the value of these. They're very responsive. Every little hit gets picked up - so you get a lot of sounds out of one cymbal. The price is good too, considering the quality. I do wish they had more size options from this series though.
Amazing
You gotta try different cymbals to know what you want. It was the HHX 16" Thin crash that caught my ear, and now all but my splash are HHX series. The hats in this kit are very different than my previous sets, and at first I wasn't sure they were going to work for me, but hearing them recorded quickly changed my mind. Now I am used to how they sound and play and believe the "pre-EQed" description. The ride was an instant good time. The ping of the bell puts a smile on my face and using it like a low and slow crash as well is exactly what I wanted. The 19" Legacy crash blends with the 16 and 18" HHX thin crashes but has this shimmer to it where the other 2 are more defined by a single note. I was thinking I needed to get a china or o-zone or similar style crash to get a different yet similar tone but this fits that role for me as well. Just a matter of how its used. I think the best part is that even when I am totally screwing around and not playing to the guitar parts, it still sounds amazing. I don't, but the kit does. Money well spent.

Fantastic cymbals!
They are sonically matched ! The ride has perfect wash and doesn't over ride .Im actually not really into too purchasing box sets.Very pleased with purchase Sabian I put your cymbals at the top.And thank you Sweetwater for always A + service. My salesmen Codie Priester is Top notch.
Worth every penny
This pack covers all the essentials. I'm a groove-based drummer that plays in southern and alternative rock bands and these compliment those sounds very well. These also have the best feel/response of any I've ever played on in my 20+ years of experience. I couldn't be happier.
