Prewired for Your Convenience

The Fender Fat ’50s Prewired Stratocaster pickguard gives you the classic, vintage tone that players and collectors love. Starting with Alnico V magnets, these pickups come loaded with period correct appointments such as Formvar-coated magnet wire, staggered pole pieces, and fiber bobbins. These features help the Fat ’50s pickups pump out the clean, sparkling tone reminiscent of the Strats of old. That’s not all, this pickguard has hot-rodded wiring that bumps up the output, enhances the bass response, and delivers 21st-century attitude. Here at Sweetwater, we love how easy it is to drop the Fender Fat ’50s Prewired Pickguard into a Strat and get playing. These medium output pickups are prewired into a stylish Fender pickguard with a 5-way switch.

Everything you need to get playing

The Fender Fat ’50s Prewired Stratocaster Pickguard arrives completely wired. All you need to do is solder the ground wire and output jack, then screw the pickguard down and you’re ready to play. Fender Custom Fat 50s SSS loaded pickguard review
Straight from the Custom Shop these complete pickguards are the bomb! Easy to install. Just need basic soldering knowledge for 3 wires to connect. I installed mine in a 1997 MIM Strat and they Sound incredible to say the least. Highly recommend any of these loaded pick guards from Fender! Nick Barton my Sales Tech is the best and I cannot say enough about how good he has taken care of me over the years!
Music background: +44yrs - I love to play and collect
Beautiful tone!
Just installed these into my brand new Player Strat project guitar; I had no issues with original Player Series pickups (very good in their own right!), but I just wanted that extra depth, definition, and more complex flavor that I hoped these would offer. After a LOT of research (had a LOT of time to kill quarantined), I opted for these tone monsters. Installation was relatively painless (though I have some basic soldering experience) and the assembly dropped right in cleanly. Once I got the pickup heights to where I wanted them (thanks to Fender's recommendation and fine tuning to ear), the tone I got was spectacular. These exude a punchy, deep 50s flavor but with a little bit extra to make them even more fun without losing that gorgeous Strat chime. I love how responsive and dynamic they are - gutsy when pushed and glassy and warm when lightly coaxed. As with any quality single coil, these are honest pickups (in a very good way) - you'll hear every nuance of your playing all the while inspiring you on to play them even more! Putting it bluntly: I started adjusting my pickups this morning and I didn't get done until 5 hours later because I couldn't put my Strat down!!! Haha! My only constructive criticism would be including a treble bleed circuit (they already included a bridge tone mod with this pickguard, FWIW) - I believe these pickups would shine even more with one installed!

I was on the fence trying to decide between these pickups and the 57/62s. I chose these and I'm very happy with the way they sound. I have the Fender Player ll stratocaster and I was not thrilled with the pickups that the guitar came with. They were OK but they didn't have enough character in my opinion. Now, all 5 positions sound great; plenty of sparkle and chime with a nice but not overbearing low end. I also changed the tremolo block and arm for a Callaham block which is better made and it provides additional sustain.
Easier than I expected; sounds great!
I've never done an upgrade for any of my guitars, and I've been playing for about 25+ years. Ray at Sweetwater told me about the prewired pickguard when I called to inquire about new pickups. This sounded much easier than soldering individual pickups, so I decided to give it a try. It sat on my table for about a week or two before I mustered the courage to try to install it. I'm so glad I did it! It was pretty easy for a beginner with minimal experience in soldering. And the sound is incredible! I upgraded from stock Fender pickups in my MIM Strat, and the difference was very evident. I actually like a proper guitarist! I mean, the tone is rich and the noise is definitely less than my stock pups. If you're on the fence about these, I suggest just doing it. You won't regret it!

Fender Custom Fat 50’s prewired pickups
I own several Strats with everything from Tex Mex to Texas Special, and Lace Sensors, and these are by far the best sounding pick ups ! Being pre wired it was an easy installation .
Mike Arrango, my sales engineer, made sure I received them on time and that my install went smoothly and that i was completely satisfied!
Music background: I’ve been playing guitar since 1968. My first new gear was a 1969 Fender Mustang and a Fender Delux Reverb ! I wish I still owned them!
