Capture the Signature Sound of an Alt-country Icon

Soulful, small-bodied, and spec’d to the tastes of Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy, the Martin 00DB Jeff Tweedy resurrects one of the most distinctive signature models in Martin history. Initially released back in the early 2010s, Jeff’s customized 00 has been revitalized with the same rustic style and responsibly sourced tonewoods as the original, featuring an FSC-certified mahogany top, back, and sides. Equipped with scalloped European spruce bracing and a deeper 00-sized body, the Martin 00DB Jeff Tweedy packs an oversized tone with ample warmth, depth, and focus — it’s an ideal instrument for songwriters seeking a dry and focused sound to support their voice. Jeff’s affinity for old-school Martins is no secret among the Wilco faithful, and this Martin 00DB’s FSC-certified mahogany neck lives up to that reputation with a rotund Modified V profile and a fingerstyle-friendly 1.75-inch nut width. Capped with a stunning Tweedy Burst finish, an FSC-certified ebony fingerboard with Foden-style inlays, and classic open-gear tuning machines, the Martin 00DB Jeff Tweedy’s unabashed vintage charm is sure to equally appeal to Wilco fanatics and guitarists with a craving for retro Martin vibes.

FSC-certified all-mahogany body

Martin’s mahogany-topped instruments offer a mellower sonic alternative to the legions of spruce-topped 6-strings, forming the perfect foundation for Jeff Tweedy’s expressive strain of alt country. As such, the Martin 00DB Jeff Tweedy sports a top, back, and sides crafted from sustainably sourced, FSC-certified mahogany, supported by dynamic scalloped European spruce X-bracing. Strum a chord, and this 00 resounds with a warm, balanced, and naturally compressed character that’s perfect for supporting vocal accompaniment. Moreover, Sweetwater’s plectrum-free players have long championed small-body, all-mahogany acoustics for their exemplary fingerpicking tone, especially for styles that incorporate a bluesy flavor or a country-tinged drawl.

Versatile 00-sized body shape

Just a touch smaller than a 000-sized Martin, Martin’s 00 body supplies rich and powerful fingerpicking tone. This guitar’s slim, slightly deeper-than-usual profile provides a full, firm, and focused bass response, ensuring your every note rings out in perfect balance. Plus, smaller-bodied instruments such as this 00DB Jeff Tweedy often boast a far more responsive feel than their big-bodied counterparts — a single plucked note on this 00 unlocks a shimmering wash of resonance. Finally, while Martin’s 00 models traditionally feature a shorter 24.9-inch scale length, the 00DB Jeff Tweedy’s standard 25.4-inch scale length supplies you with a snappier tonality with enhanced punch and power.

Jeff Tweedy: defining the sound of alt-country since 1990

From his origins with the band Uncle Tupelo to his 3-decade tenure as the front man of Wilco, Jeff Tweedy is a foundational figure in the world of alternative country. His highly acclaimed oeuvre includes more than 20 studio albums, 10 Grammy nominations, and four Grammy wins to his name. Most exciting of all to Sweetwater's guitar nerds is Jeff's status as an unabashed gearhead — the "Wilco Loft" in Chicago houses Jeff and the band's sprawling collection of instruments and studio tools, with the number of guitars said to reach perilously close to the 3-figure mark! The Martin 00DB Jeff Tweedy holds a special slot among these 6-strings, embodying Jeff’s affinity for the old and offbeat instruments of Martin history.

Martin 00DB Jeff Tweedy Features:

  • Signature guitar of Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy, offering a distinctive spin on the timeless all-mahogany Martin tradition
  • FSC-certified mahogany body with European spruce scalloped X-bracing sings with a warm, dry, and naturally compressed character
  • 00-sized body with a slightly deeper depth offers both small-bodied comfort and increased low-end power
  • Long 25.4-in. scale grants superior clarity and is well suited to players who explore alternate tunings
  • FSC-certified mahogany neck in a chunky, vintage-inspired Modified V profile and a smooth satin finish
  • FSC-certified ebony fingerboard studded with alluring Foden-style inlays
  • Nickel open-gear tuning machines for a touch of old-school charm

Binding issues
Wonderful guitar. Everything it touts is true. But the binding issue that plagues post Y2k martins struck. Binding pulled loose at waist. Had to argue with Martin, but they eventually paid for authorized repairs. Couple years later, it has come loose again, in need of repair. Great guitar otherwise, but cant recommend as of now.
What is going on at Martin?!?!
I have the first edition of this guitar. The first edition of this guitar is great (and it cost me half of what this one did). These new ones have major QC issues. There are way too many "manufacturing marks" on this guitar. And, I have only had this guitar for a matter of days, and the binding is coming off!!! These issues are unacceptable! I am now afraid to purchase any new Martin guitar.
