Premium Tonewoods and Vintage Style

Martin’s 000-16 StreetMaster takes premium tonewoods, effortless playability, and a comfortable 000 body style and wraps it all up in a beautifully distressed finish. This guitar’s aged Adirondack spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides offer a formidable tonal punch that’s loaded with sparkling overtones and a deep low-end thump — a versatile combo that Sweetwater guitarists find fit to tackle almost any playing style. And while the 000-16 StreetMaster comes outfitted with vintage flair, its Modified Low-oval neck profile, Plek’d frets, and wide 1.75-inch nut width deliver decidedly modern playability. Finally, Martin’s Vintage Tone System (VTS) aging is applied to the 000-16 Streetmaster’s top, all adding up to a guitar that looks and sounds like a worn-in friend right out of the box.

Stiff Adirondack spruce top

At one time the standard on every spruce-topped Martin, the 000-16 Streetmaster’s Adirondack spruce top is a top-of-the-line feature rarely seen on guitars of this price point. While it’s more of a personal preference than an undeniable “upgrade,” Adirondack is a supremely stiff spruce that’s ideal for players who value volume and headroom above all else, with an unmatched projection among the guitar world’s various top woods. Plus, while Adirondack is famed for its tendency to open up over time, Martin’s VTS aging process gives you a well-aged tone from day one.

Stunning rosewood back and sides

Spruce and rosewood: the classic steel-string tonewood pairing for well over a century! The Martin 000-16 Streetmaster’s rosewood back and sides offer a resonant, overtone-laden tone that’s equally at home playing delicate fingerstyle as it is chunking out open-position chords. Combined with the Adirondack spruce top, this Martin is loaded with a deep bass response and a powerful projection that belie its comfortable 000 body size.

High-performance neck profile

While the 000-16 Streetmaster might look like a vintage classic, it sports a Modified Low-oval neck profile that’s built for modern performance. This neck’s slightly thinned-down style is comfortable for players of almost any genre, with just enough girth to reduce fatigue when playing through a long set or practice session. What’s more, the smooth rosewood fingerboard boasts Plek’d frets for an exceptionally precise, buzz-free playability.

Martin 000-16 StreetMaster Features:

  • Adirondack spruce top offers unparalleled projection, volume, and headroom
  • East Indian rosewood back and sides produce an overtone-laden tone with an impressively powerful low-end response

Reviews

Martin 00016 is a gem.
Prefers hard strum to picking in my opinion. Either way she sounds beautiful. Perfect neck size for smaller hands. Beautifully made. Pleked by Martin. Paid for new strings and a set up & she sounds gorgeous! Worth the money. Sweetwater was great through the process!

Amazing guitar for the price!
I've had my 000-16 StreetMaster now for about 9 months, and I love this guitar. Immediately I noticed that the Adi torrified top was so responsive and sensitive that it amplified even my right hand anchor fingers (a bad habit of mine) touch. I put a 000 style tortoise pick guard and it looks and sounds amazing...kind of like a 000-28 with extra volume. I installed a Baggs Anthem pick up and it is everything I could want. This may me Martin's best bang for the buck, with the VTS Adi top, scalloped bracing, rosewood back and sides. My only criticism are the Golden Age tuners, pretty tough to adjust. Since I'll have this guitar for the rest of my life I'll put some 18:1 butter bean Grovers on it to solve that. Great guitar, don't hesitate! I got it from Sweet Water and Ian Chamberlain took great care of me. Thanks!

Simply incredible.
I'm a 46 year old guitar newb. I believe in setting yourself up for success by suppling yourself with the best quality items that you can afford to start any new journey or hobby. I'm also a research junkie. This guitar is so impressive, even to a new player. In my research, I learned about quality tone woods, construction methods, nut and saddle materials, etc. The woods this guitar is made of are difficult to find outside of really high end models from any manufacturer. Add to that the VTS (torrefaction) process, and it's even better. It sounds awesome to me. It's plenty loud for me without being too obnoxious to the rest of the family when I'm practicing.
I'm not drawn to overly complicated and flashy designs. The simplicity of this guitar suits my taste just fine. Its well worn aesthetic allows me to not be afraid to handle it. Lots of gloss and pearl accents would make me nervous to take it out of the case!
I never imagined I'd ever own an American made guitar, let alone from a legendary company such as Martin. I love it!

Acoustic bliss
Nice playing and great sounding acoustic. Very pleased, though I must admit I was not satisfied with the plastic tuners. I swapped them out for a set of Ratio tuners, and they seriously take the tuning to the next level. Also added some Martin liquid metal bridge pins and a pick guard. I added the pick guard because of the light finish and the aging process both make the surface very sensitive to your hand brushing across when strumming lively. It was packed for shipping very well. I really like this guitar allot, it's a keeper.

Looks, feels and sounds beautiful, like a well loved old guitar
The Martin 000-16 Streetmaster has a really big, beautiful, nearly dreadnought sound with great low end, in a smaller package. The Adirondack Spruce and the aging process gives a wonderful, rich, lush and aged tone from a brand new guitar, very inspiring to play. The smaller body size is super comfortable. Playing this one more than my D15, D18, or HD28, it really has an amazing sound. Martin and Sweetwater are both fantastic!
