High quality costs more

Neutrik products are expensive but are built in a clever and high-quality fashion. I used two of the angled TRS 1/4" NP3RX plugs (and 4 ft of Mogami W2549 cable) to mod my Nord triple pedal unit after replacing its cord with a Switchcraft TRS jack. The install went without a hitch after following the installation instructions on the Neutrik website. I highly recommend you follow those directions if installing these plugs, especially the measurements given for stripping each of the three wires. Tin the wire ends and contacts first and then solder directly to the contacts. Don't try to thread the wires through the little holes - it's not necessary. Also, measure your cable and remove the extra spacer ring if necessary (just follow the directions and measure!). I don't understand the reviews some people give stating that it is difficult to use these. They are precision made and work like a charm IF you follow the directions closely.

Moving backwards.

I started fixing my own mic and instrument cables about 10 years ago replacing the jacks with neutrik when they get scratchy/staticy etc. Saves money, reduces waste, and in almost all cases improves the strength and durability of the cable overall. They make good stuff. Plus you do get used to your cables visual characteristics when trying to single one out in runs with other cables etc.
This Neutrik jack though.. Maybe I just got a dud. The threads on the plastic cap piece don't align with the metal threads inside properly. No matter how I try it cross-threads every time. I've done this countless times in the past using their other jacks so Im sure its not user error. Also, just as annoying is that the more you attempt to get it the more it torques your soldering causing more problems!! My cable just keeps getting shorter and shorter lol. I think I'm about to give up. Some new shrink wrap on the old jack is cheaper anyway i guess. Sucks because to me it just makes sense to improve the quality for $ if I'm resoldering it anyway. Sooo, i hope you have better luck than me :)
