Score your own way
With the option to play the individual sections separately or the whole orchestra at once, Synchron Smart Orchestra works beautifully both as a full-featured orchestra library and as a sketch pad for quickly auditioning new compositional ideas. And with the ability to play the orchestra or sections with your left hand and one of many solo/lead voices with your right, it’s also great for playing out live. The solo/lead voices are Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Trumpet, Horn, Harp, Celesta, Violin, Cello, Bassoon, Violin Ensemble, and Cello Ensemble. The orchestra/section voices are Orchestra, Orchestra + Choir, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Choir, Choir + Strings, Timpani, and Drums & Percussion.

Cohesive, well-balanced sound, right out of the gate
All the sections and solo/lead instruments are assignable to separate channels of the Vienna Synchron Player mixer, making it easy to tweak each sound to your liking, apply onboard effects, and adjust the overall balance. The Close, Classical, Long, and Lush mixer presets provide a well-balanced and cohesive starting point right out of the gate. Plus, with onboard articulations including staccato, sforzato, lyrical legato, and more, you'll have no problem ensuring your sounds remain sounding authentic and professional in any mix.
Smart, flexible key mapping
The Tutti presets comprise all the orchestra sections without the solo/lead voices. The full range of the orchestra spans from C2 to C6 on the keyboard, with the most common non-pitched percussion instruments mapped from D6 upwards. Within the Tutti & Solo presets, solo voices are mapped from C5 upwards. These presets also provide the ability to lower the volume of the orchestra to below mezzo forte or even down to piano, letting the lead instrument played with your right soar above the orchestra played with your left hand. If a broader note range from an instrument is required, all solo/lead instruments are also available separately with their complete note ranges.
Get into the flow
Armed with Vienna Symphonic Library's intuitive Flow View, managing and directing the sounds within your scores becomes an effortless feat. Assemble your players, adjust dynamics, add effects, fine-tune your tone, and much more — the potential of Flow View is only bound by your creative wit! Plus, Flow View makes Synchron Smart Orchestra impressively easy to navigate, ensuring a tight and efficient workflow in any production environment.

The sonic magic of Synchron Stage Vienna
The performances of the Synchron Smart Orchestra were recorded with the glorious ambience of Synchron Stage Vienna’s 5,813-square-foot main hall, Stage A, which can accommodate a 130-piece orchestra. With its massive concrete foundation, room-in-room construction, sound insulation, and specially designed HVAC system, the studio boasts an ultra-low noise floor of 16dBA, even with the air conditioning running. Stage A sports a reverb time of 1.8 seconds — and unlike many other scoring stages, there is no low-frequency masking effect. Instruments sound warm and punchy, with superior depth and panoramic localization.
Located on Vienna’s historic Wiener Rosenhüegel, Synchron Stage Vienna has an illustrious history. Originally built in the 1940s adjacent to Rosenhügel-Filmstudios as part of the Film City Vienna complex, the stage was used exclusively for film scores and classical recordings by artists such as Herbert von Karajan, Yehudi Menuhin, Sviatoslav Richter, and Mstislav Rostropovich. Vienna Symphonic Library took over in 2013, and brought in the noted acoustical design firm Walters-Storyk Design Group for renovations. Since then, Synchron Stage Vienna has been host to VSL sampling sessions, as well as classical recordings and scoring sessions for films, television, video games, and commercials.
First-call musicians, first-class samples
At Sweetwater, we hold the Vienna Symphonic Library in high regard; that’s because we’re picky about our orchestral samples. It all starts with the musicians. Since VSL’s inception, first-call musicians have been providing the sound and character of these instruments as soloists and ensemble leaders. As Europe’s finest A-list session players, they have contributed their talents to countless film and television scores. Vienna Symphonic Library’s no-compromise approach is largely responsible for the impressive sonic authority and authenticity we have come to expect from VSL virtual instruments.
