Powerful Soft Synth with Modern and Vintage Sounds

For synthesists who love to go deep when it comes to sound design, Roland offers Zenology Pro. This stellar soft synth allows users to tap into the incredible sounds and powerful patch-building features of the Roland ZEN-core Synthesis System. Zenology Pro is an expansive one-stop shop for sonic creation, featuring a massive collection of over 3,500 patches and drum kits. And you have the option to expand its functionality via Roland's Model Expansions, which contain spot-on emulations of classic synths, such as the Juno-106 and JX-8P, as well as cutting-edge contemporary synthesizer designs. Utilizing a unique 4-oscillator architecture — each with nine virtual analog waveforms, supersaw, noise, and PCM with 1840 waveforms — Zenology Pro comes out swinging, and it backs it up with 10 filter types, 11 LFO shapes with tempo sync, and 90 effects taken from Roland's most coveted vintage processors. The sheer volume of sounds and soundshaping tools may seem overwhelming at first, but synthesists at Sweetwater were impressed by Zenology Pro's intuitive interface that gives you detailed control over every aspect of Zenology Pro in a clear, logical format. Patch design is a breeze with flexible routing and easy-to-understand editing features. Looking for a soft synth that can do it all? Then you'll love the Zenology Pro soft synth from Roland.

Note: Zenology Pro requires a free Roland Cloud account and Internet authorization. Please contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer with any questions.

Integrates seamlessly with ZEN-Core compatible Roland hardware

Used strictly within your DAW, the Zenology Pro is a knock-out soft synth. But, when paired with compatible ZEN-Core Roland hardware like FANTOM, Jupiter-X, and the RD-88, the Zenology Pro is unstoppable! You can create patches within Zenology Pro and fly them over to your hardware, and vice versa. If you thrive on the tactile feel of hardware but appreciate the infinite creative potential of software synthesizers, you'll enjoy Zenology Pro's seamless integration with your Roland devices — we sure do!

Reviews

Give it some time
I bought this software and was very excited to get it. At first, I felt a little disappointed, as I felt they had skimped in certain areas, but the more time I spent with it, and the better I learned it (and everything with this complexity takes time, no matter how familiar you are), the happier I became because there was so much you could do with it and so many sounds that were not immediately noticeable. Plus, you can stack sounds and tweak them endlessly, by single tone, of which up to four make a patch, or altogether, or layered, etc. I've gone to it more and more over time, and have used it more and more. Sometimes, I think we amass huge amounts of hardware and software sounds without really knowing what each is capable of. I'm very guilty of this myself, but often I think I was better off with a single 1/2" 8-track and my sole keyboard for everything was a Roland JD-800 with the 4 or 5 data expansion cards. I really took the time to learn how to program and I think even write more creative and effective parts when I only had maybe 100 patches as opposed to 10,000! But this is only a personal view, and I do very much love having all those sounds and unlimited tracks!
The ZENOLOGY PRO is worth it, and you will definitely use it if you have it.
Music background: I’ve been playing since the age of eleven, and am crazy about it as ever.
A fantastic source of infinite sounds
The ZENOLOGY PRO, even though it is not the ULTIMATE, is still an extraordinary synth plug-in. You will be finding more and more sounds and ways to tweak them than you have hours in the day, and the more I discover, the more I love it.
I've always been a huge fan of Roland, and still have my great JD-800 and MC-50 sequencer which I'll admit I still use with Pro Tools because you can sync them together. I also have an Integra as well that— with an I Pad—is extraordinarily editable. Even if you just want great sounds out of the box, the ZENOLOGY PRO does not disappoint. Nor does any Roland product, and the support at Sweetwater has been phenomenal!
Great sounds
There are a lot of great and editable sounds for your money, and only your imagination will stop you from finding and developing both new and exciting patches.
Zenology is awesome
This plugin is really great. I've found myself using it in basically all of my beats. It has a lot of versatility, since it generates so many different sounds.
Roland outdid them self.
I have been a Roland fan for over 30 years. I have the 1080,2080 and several of the sound cards along with their drum machine. This software is the best sound of Roland. Having software of Roland sound and being able to tweak it too. Wow
Music background: Songwriter, producer and engineering .

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
