Cutting-edge Synthesis Takes Flight with Limitless Possibilities
Without question, Falcon is UVI’s most comprehensive, detailed, and inspiring entry in its line of lauded soft synths — not just for what it adds from its predecessors, but also for how it looks to the future of sound design. Its 1,500 presets run the gauntlet of 23 oscillator types, like phase- and frequency-modulated synthesis, additive, physical modeling, virtual analog, granular, wavetable, and more. You’ve also got a slew of plucked, bowed-string, drum, and noise sounds in your arsenal, alongside a powerful, nuanced sampler and more than 100 powerful FX, including distortions EQs, delays, reverbs, and amps. Sweetwater’s sound designers are enamored with the detailed, high-fidelity output of UVI’s proprietary DSP, ensuring physically modeled sounds and complex spatial modulation are endlessly evocative. Comprehensive modulation, layering, and scripting are paired with malleable workflow adjustment tools and preset management to maximize creativity without compromising your interfacing. Did we mention MIDI can be algorithmically generated and that Falcon supports MIDI Polyphonic Expression? And to think that this is just the 10,000-foot view of what Falcon can do. Read on to dive further into the details!

What’s new in Falcon
With Falcon, UVI welcomes to the already-explosive soft synth a heap of performance enhancements, quality-of-life upgrades, and a slew of all-new sonic possibilities. From the jump, opening Falcon greets you with a redesigned browser, with overhauls to searching, tagging, and discovering the sounds you need — you can even audition sounds with the new Audio Previews tool! Speaking of tagging, Falcon introduces a tagging system that spans the entirety of UVI’s catalog, from the new and refreshed Falcon Factory library’s 1,500-plus patches to the furthest reaches of the Falcon-compatible ecosystem. Tags, however, aren’t the only workflow update that will come with the latest flight of the Falcon. Workspaces, for example, let you treat entire UI states like presets to freely save and recall, while the revamped starting screen gives you 20-plus new templates to kick-start your creative journey.
Performance wise, Falcon augments your palette with new and improved Scripts and Sequencer, including the Node Arp, Motion Grid, Snowflakes, and the MIDI CC Smoother. But MIDI enhancements don’t stop there. Not only does Falcon improve MPE performance, but the upgraded MIDI out capabilities extend MIDI control to external instruments of both the software and hardware varieties.

Ample sonic possibilities
When it comes to sound, UVI expands the firepower of Falcon with a vast array of virtual possibilities. Because the staggering 20 types of oscillators found in Falcon somehow weren’t scratching their itch, UVI, never one to settle, decided three additional, exciting oscillators would accompany Falcon: VOSIM, Bowed String, and Harmonic Resonator. With VOSIM, you unlock the dual-mode dynamo of crafting distinctive formant sounds in an electrifying virtual tribute to the vintage vocal synths of the late 1970s and the 1980s. Bowed String, on the other hand, supplies you with a virtual bow and string, with an armada of articulations to sculpt and contour timbres and textures of (un)real orchestral shades. The third new oscillator, Harmonic Resonator, supplements your sonics with six coupling-capable and tunable resonators, in the form of a multi-layer exciter. Finally, Falcon brings with it a slew of exciting effects, like Opal, a cutting-edge, physically-modeled optical compressor, or Dispersor, a transient-shaping texturizer that cedes individual control over Spread, Frequency, Stages, and Order parameters.
Uncompromising sonic sculpting meets endless virtuality
It isn’t easy to imagine how many types of synthesis exist, and it’s even more challenging to consider emulating one, much less 23. Yet, that’s precisely what UVI chose to do with Falcon, and the company spared no effort. Virtual analog, wavetable, phase distortion, additive, FM, formant, drum, noise sample, stretch, granular, harmonic resonators, and physical modeling — these aren’t even all 20 styles, and you’ve already got a near-endless array of synthesis possibilities. Over 500 wavetables and 1,500 presets can be found in Falcon, created in collaboration with some of the world’s preeminent sound designers. Moreover, UVI’s advanced sampler engine includes a diverse tool kit of audio manipulation, from time-stretching and pitch-shifting to slicing and granular processing, evoking otherworldly soundscapes that can be endlessly dotted and explored with your samples.

Sound shaping without boundaries
For all Falcon’s oscillator types and synthesis possibilities, they aren’t the only place where meticulous layering, modulation, and mapping can evoke dynamic, morphing sounds. Over 100 onboard effects offer a litany of opportunities for detailed sound shaping, boasting high-fidelity distortions, dynamics controls, reverbs, analyzers, delays, and many more. Plus, effects can be used in multiple instances within a patch, as well as in parallel, and thoroughly modulated, allowing for unmatched control from MIDI, scripts, or active interactions. Falcon even supports multichannel mixing and surround sound formats, granting unfettered access to immersive soundscapes and imaginative editing and interfacing possibilities.
Modulation, MIDI, scripting, and more
Performance in any setting is unlocked with Falcon’s deeply interwoven capacity for customized control, whether that’s extensive MIDI CC, OSC, and host automation support from physical controllers or comprehensive MPE compatibility. Internally, the Map and Remap functions provide detailed quantization and intra-connective potential within your patches, letting you modulate effects oscillators and even other modulators with MSEGs, envelopes, LFOs, randomizers, and more. If that weren’t enough, the savvy among us will appreciate Falcon’s ability to incorporate scripts to not just manipulate incoming MIDI information, but to also generate it algorithmically for inspiring new approaches to live performances and studio ideation.
