A Best-of Palette of Analog-style Modulation Effects

Waves Kaleidoscopes is a super suite of analog-style modulation effects. This plug-in includes phaser, flanger, chorus, and tremolo — each based on tried-and-true studio classics. Whether you apply it to vocals, synths, guitars, or drums, you’ll appreciate Kaleidoscopes’ unique Dual Cascade architecture, which enables you to run any two effects in series for super-lush sounds, or in parallel to produce ultra-wide soundscapes. You get a variety of selectable modulation sources, plus Speed, Resonance, Width, Depth, and Mix controls for each modulation engine and five different effect characters, supplying you with a wide range of analog-like textures. Musicians will find much to love about this plug-in — Intelligent Triggering responds dynamically to your playing in real time, while a Thru mode makes crafting a wet/dry rig a piece of cake. Kaleidoscopes is essentially a best-of palette of vintage-tinged modulation sounds. It provides the perfect ear candy for your studio or live rig.

Dual Cascade architecture yields one-of-a-kind sonic textures

Crafting one-of-a-kind sonic textures with Kaleidoscopes is a breeze, thanks to its exclusive Dual Cascade architecture. Imagine what kinds of effects you can create by cascading this plug-in’s two modulation engines into one another serially. Or, if the mood strikes you, build crazy-wide soundscapes by running them in parallel. Each of Kaleidoscopes’ two engines include an array of waveshape selections, or you can sidechain any signal from your DAW and use it as a modulator. You can also use Intelligent Triggering to control the plug-in with your own live playing, enabling you to drive the effect’s pulsing in real time.

Generous control set provides tons of versatility

Kaleidoscopes offers a great deal of versatility. Not only do you get Speed, Resonance, Width, and Depth controls for each engine, along with filter settings and mix knobs, you also get five different effect characters that yield a rainbow of analog flavors. DAW synchronization is also onboard. We’ve done all kinds of interesting things with Kaleidoscopes here at Sweetwater, such as feeding a phaser into a chorus, then modulating it with a guitar or hardware synth. We’ve also ran a slow-burning jet flange sound in parallel with an aggressive, tempo-sync’d tremolo. With Waves Kaleidoscopes in your plug-in folder, you’ll never run out of fresh sounds.

Since the early days of DAW software, Waves has been a dominating force in music and audio production. For those of us here at Sweetwater who've been recording since the industry switched over to computer-based studios, it's impossible to imagine sessions without L series Ultramaximizers, MaxxBass, and other staples. Since then, we've been impressed every time Waves has brought top producers such as Jack Joseph Puig and Chris Lord-Alge to Sweetwater to show off their next cutting-edge creations, and Waves is constantly adding new and innovative plug-ins to their catalog. And with cool new gear such as their SoundGrid series, Sweetwater engineers have discovered just how easy it is to use Waves plug-ins live.
