A Super-useful 5-watt Combo from Supro

The Supro '64 Reverb is one of those guitar amplifiers that every guitarist and studio owner should have on hand. For starters, this 5-watt, 1 x 8" tube combo sounds excellent. Independent Gain and Master Volume controls enable variable levels of dirt at any level, while a 2-band EQ supplies ample sound shaping. Three versatile line-output jacks make the '64 Reverb useful in a myriad of applications. And its sweet-sounding tube-driven spring reverb alone is worth the price of admission. Complete with a top-notch Jensen C8R speaker, the Supro '64 Reverb packs a lot of tube-infused goodness into a compact guitar combo amplifier.

5 watts of glorious tube tone — at any volume

You can coax a myriad of cool tones out of the '64 Reverb, both clean and dirty. This ultra-compact tube combo amplifier includes independent Gain and Master Volume controls, so you can dial in your preferred level of grit at any level. And once you get your gain-staging situated, you can tweak your tone to perfection with a musical-sounding 2-band EQ. Finally, a sweet tube-driven spring reverb adds the perfect finishing touch.

Three versatile line outputs

The '64 Reverb is a versatile 5 watter. It boasts three line-output jacks, which are driven by the amp's preamp tubes. Whether you feed it to another guitar amplifier, a console, or an audio interface, the '64 Reverb works like a champ onstage, in the studio, and in your practice room. At Sweetwater, we've also used the '64 Reverb as an effect unit — it's tube-fueled outboard gain and tube-driven spring reverb sound amazing!

Super lil’ combo!

I'll be honest, I was on the fence for a while after buying this amp for my home studio. I had never owned a 5w valve amp before and I just couldn't seem to make it sound how I wanted, but now I love it! What unlocked this little beast and brought it to life was placing an EP Boost pedal in between either my Stratocaster or Les Paul. Now it's a totally different animal. I highly recommend this amp for classic rock sounds of the 60's and 70's up to 90's alternative tones. The reverb is great on this amp too. In my experience though, you will need a boost pedal of some kind to get the most out of it.

A Small but Might Vintage Box

I have owned this little amp for more than a year, so I'm well past the honeymoon phase. And as we all experience with any piece of gear, opinions evolve over time. However, I can firmly say now that I love this little amp. It's all about expectations. If you are expecting a compact combo amp with an 8" speaker do the same thing as a 1x12" combo, then you will be disappointed. It won't. It also doesn't really do "modern" driven tones, nor does it have much "clean headroom." But this is not what the makers of this beast intended. This amp is not intended for gigging, though it easily could (if you ran its mix line out into the front of a more powerful amp). No, what they intended was to recreate a piece of history for those that want that vintage rock tone for practicing and recording. So, what DOES this little amp do that warrants a $ price tag? It does classic driven rock tones in spades and at volumes that will not damage your hearing (too much). It handles pedals surprisingly well (as does its little brother, the Supro 64 Super, which I also own) and, because the tone breaks up at pretty low volumes, you can get a very satisfying vintage supro growl. I've tested lots of dirt pedals on this amp, I think those that are slightly mid-scooped tend to complement the naturally mid-pronounced tone of the supro.
Most recently, I've been using a Revv G4 into this thing and, with the gain set low on the pedal, I get some of the best rock tones I've heard. It has multiple outputs, including a mix out that sends a line-level mix of dry and wet out to another amp or a DAW. It has a dry out that allows just the dry signal out with supro amp generating the reverb. It has a reverb out that does just the opposite. It's built like a tank and looks cool as hell--even my wife thinks its nice looking. So, in all, if you want the sounds of Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and lots of other classic rock, as well as some modern ones (think, Dirty Honey, etc.) at low volumes, then this little amp does it in spades. Thanks to Jonathan for his patience and assistance with me on getting this little monster.

Supro 64 reverb

This amp kicks butt. There is not another tube amp out there that does what this little beast can do. A bit on the pricey side, but, I bought two of them. You'll be an instant fan.

wanted to love it...

my lil supro was cool but the reverb was dead right out of the box. I still ran a couple guitars through it before returning it. Not what i expected. I think for a couple hundred more the fender tweed champ is a better way to go. But thats just my take, yours may differ. Maybe instead of a 5 watt amp just buy a Power Soak and your amp will be a quiet as you want.
