A Classic "Silverface" Amplifier Returns

The '68 Custom Princeton Reverb all-tube combo amp embodies everything you love about classic '60s Fender amplifiers with a slight twist. Its all-tube circuitry, handwired tube sockets, and custom-made Schumacher transformers make this one of the most accurate historical tribute amps ever made. But Fender went further by reducing the negative feedback for an amp that overdrives faster and has increased touch sensitivity. It houses a 10" Celestion speaker for a distinct rock 'n' roll vibe. Fender's '68 Custom Princeton Reverb gives you tons of vintage vibe with a hot-rodded punch!

Fender '68 Custom Princeton Reverb All-tube Combo Amplifier at a Glance:
  • Classic looks and design
  • Hot-rodded sound and response
  • A legendary Fender guitar amplifier
Classic looks and design

Fender created the all-tube '68 Custom Princeton Reverb combo amp as a tribute to the late-'60s Silverface amps. It's dressed up with the same style of faceplate and silver-turquoise grille cloth with aluminum trim. From the handwired tube sockets to the vintage-spec Schumacher transformers, the Fender '68 Custom Princeton Reverb delivers the vintage-vibed tone and feel you would expect.

Hot-rodded sound and response

The '68 Custom Princeton Reverb isn't a reissue - it's a hot-rodded tribute amp. Fender designed this all-tube combo amp with a modified tone circuit that delivers greater tonal flexibility when used with your favorite effects pedals. They also reduced the amp's negative feedback to give it increased touch sensitivity, and it also starts to overdrive faster. The Fender '68 Custom Princeton Reverb has a single 10" Celestion speaker that gives it a definite rock 'n' roll flair.

A legendary Fender guitar amplifier

The legendary Fender Princeton Reverb amp of the '60s was small, light, and moderately-powered. Though intended for practice situations, the Princeton was capable of big tube tone, and Fender's world-class reverb and vibrato effects were the icing on the cake. From its inception 'til today, countless guitarists have chosen it as their go-to studio amp, crafting signature sounds with a stompbox or two feeding a simple miked-up Princeton. Today, original Princeton Reverb amps are prized collectibles, and becoming harder to find. The new '68 Custom Princeton Reverb offers today's players all of the great tone and dynamics of the original with a hot-rodded twist. The robust 12-watt combo amp is a wise choice for creating tube tone in a small space, and even provides enough output for small gigs and rehearsals.

Great amp!

I bought this amp in late 2017 as an alternative to my Vox AC10C1...and it's been my #1 studio amp ever since. Great reverb and tremolo built in...more than adequate volume, and reliable as all get out. I've only recently given it fresh tubes and a speaker swap. Not bad for being used literally every day for 2 1/2 years. Takes pedals nicely as well. I recommend this amp for studio work, rehearsal, and small club gigs...and with a cab mic you can use it anywhere. Nice job Fender!

It’s different but great

I have had a love/hate relationship with this amp for the last year. This amp does a thing with low end. Watch the YouTube videos and comparisons and you'll hear it. The problem is that everyone seems to be treating this like a 65 Princeton reissue. It's not. If you run it that way, you be disappoint with a weird muddy sound that you cannot dial out with the bass knob. Here's the secret. There is a resistor on the bass control that makes this amp more like a fender bassman than a Princeton. This resistor does add bass, instead it adds low mids. If you turn the bass all the way down, those low mids will still be there and it will drive you crazy. The solution is to raise the treble and bass controls. This will effectively scoop the low mids and give you a sound that is more like what you're expecting. Here is a good setting to start with for a great fender clean sound on a strat: volume on 3 or 4, treble on 8 or 9, bass on 4. Guitar volume on 10, tone on 6-7

Throwing the treble up to 8-9 will raise some eyebrows, but in my experience it's the missing piece to getting great tone out of this amp. It sounds great now and takes pedals like a champ.

Now I understand the greatness of The Fender Princeton!

I have owned several different valve amps in my life, most recently using a Vox AC15. Hearing so much good about Fender amps for so long now I understand why these amps have been on most of the recordings we all have heard our entire lives!!! It sounds so good I just wish I would have bought this amp long ago! The reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the cheap 10\30 celestion in it which I'm about to change out which is an easy task with no soldering necessary! Don't hesitate, buy this amp now!!! Thanks also to Alan Moon who is a great Sales Engineer at Sweetwater!

Very impressed

Loving this amp. I looked at it for 3-4 years wondering if I should spend the cash. I wish I would have bought it years ago. Quintessential Fender tube sound. Great touch sensitivity. Very happy with this purchase.

This amp will immediately grip you.

As soon as I opened the box, this amp had such a distinct yet clean smell to it. It's ridiculous but that's the first thing that I noticed. I use a Fender Tele with a Soul Food OD and BOSS BD on this amp and the tone is satisfying and crunchy. My one caveat is that this amp gets LOUD and it can be difficult to really hear its tones shine unless you're playing it in a room that doesn't rattle and resonate as much as mine does. Perfect amp for gigging and casual playing.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
