The Best of Both Worlds

For electric guitar players, gigging with an acoustic-electric guitar can be uncomfortable. Those deeper bodies with hard edges can leave you feeling worse for wear after you step off the stage. But that's not the case with the LTD TL-7 from ESP. This 7-string thinline A/E strikes the perfect balance between acoustic guitar tone and electric guitar feel. Its slim mahogany body features a finished spruce top for premium looks and a powerful, articulate tone that translates to plugged and unplugged performances. It has a Thin "U"-shaped mahogany neck and jumbo frets that feel like they should belong on an electric guitar. And when it comes time to plug in, premium Fishman electronics reproduce an authentic tone that sits well in any mix. Designed to be played onstage, the ESP LTD TL-7 extended-range acoustic-electric guitar will change your set for the better.

A neck fit for an electric guitar

To provide a playing feel unlike any other acoustic guitar, the LTD TL-7 is equipped with a fast-playing 3-piece mahogany neck. It's carved into a Thin "U" profile reminiscent of the lightning-fast necks of the '80s. Your fingers will delight at the smooth feel of the roasted jatoba fingerboard. And to round out the electric-style playing experience, LTD equipped this guitar with 22 jumbo frets for a familiar playing experience. If you prefer the feel of a thin and fast neck, Sweetwater believes you'll love the LTD TL-7.

Premium tonewoods make for great acoustic character

For the LTD TL-7, ESP chose choice tonewoods to provide the best possible acoustic sound. The mahogany back and sides create a deep, warm, and highly resonant tone. For maximum output and articulation, a finished spruce top — a hallmark of quality acoustic instruments everywhere — rounds out the body design. Coupled with the set mahogany neck and jatoba fingerboard, the ESP LTD TL-7 produces a potent blend of excellent definition and savory resonance.

Fishman electronics for stellar plugged-in tone

The TL-7 is designed to be a perfect stage companion. The team over at ESP equipped this 7-string acoustic-electric guitar with a Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup. Sonicore pickups are trusted by guitarists all over the world due to their impeccable accuracy. The pickup runs straight into a Fishman TL-3 preamp, complete with tone shaping controls and an onboard tuner. Once you plug in, you'll have an immediately useable tone that's great for any mix.

ESP LTD TL-7 Thinline Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Thinline body design is super comfortable for playing standing up
  • Extended range ensures that you have plenty of low-end power at your disposal
  • Mahogany back and sides produce a warm, resonant tone
  • Finished spruce top enhances power and articulation
  • Thin "U" neck shape feels sleek and plays fast
  • Fishman Sonicore electronics reproduce natural sounding plugged-in tones
  • Roasted jatoba fingerboard and jumbo frets feel smooth and comfortable under your fingers

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

just one tiny detail
This seven string beauty is just what i was looking for in an acoustic for live performances.
The only detail i find just uncomfortable is when its time to change strings. Since it's an ovation type bridge, the seventh, sixth, fifth and fouth strings need to be pulled up to get the job done.

That being said it is lightweight, the fishman sistem is quite good for tonal versatility, low string action, great looks, very well built, great playability, and if i bypass the string changing drama, I'll definitely go for the 12 string version sometime soon (just in case the 7 string one feels 'lonely')
Cheers
Music background: rock, blues, acoustic music, Bands: Arcustica. Former: Advenians
Beautiful and Fun to Play
I love my new 7 string ESP guitar. I am not sure if I can go back to a six string! Definitely broadens the depth of the sounds and I am still able to reach around the neck. I really recommend this guitar.
More of a hollowbody than an acoustic
This guitar is very quiet. It feels great, plays well, but I was expecting something louder. Very comfortable too, and thin.
Interesting but fails as an acoustic
As a huge lover of 7 string guitars for over a decade i have wanted a 7 string acoustic for years. Finally having some options i chose the ESP LTD TL-7 because i liked the way the strings run through the bridge rather than using the typical pegs which can pop out. And it looks gorgeous to me. But it ultimately fails at its most basic function which is an acoustic. It is barely louder than an electric guitar being played unplugged. And i mean maybe 3 decibels. It has zero bass or low end or projection, it does not ring out well as if it has a light cloth laying on the strings or something which is hard to describe, and it has terrible intonation on the D, G, and B strings. I am not concerned with the electric portion because that is secondary. It is advertised as an acoustic and that's what i wanted. And it simply fails at that. I am truly gutted at the disappointment. I had very high hopes. I looked up all the reviews i could though there are very few on this. So hopefully this saves someone else the heartache as there was nothing to save me this disappointment. I only give 1.5 stars because the craftsmanship and looks are killer apart from the terrible intonation, otherwise this would deserve a flat out zero.
