Affordable Advanced Jumbo Conjures an Acoustic Legend

Get the tone, feel, and playability of a true acoustic classic at a great price point with the Epiphone J-15 EC acoustic guitar. This beautiful advanced jumbo is cut after the Gibson J-45, an acoustic guitar that legions of players consider a legend with a truly unique sonic presentation. The J-15 features a select spruce top paired with a mahogany back and sides for a blend of punchy treble with a balanced midrange and robust low end. A mahogany neck with pau ferro fingerboard offers impeccable response up and down the deep cutaway neck. You will please both your own ears and those of your audience thanks to a NanoFlex pickup system that translates the acoustic tone of this beauty faithfully and fully.

Innovative pickup system

The NanoFlex pickup in the J-15 represents decades of painstaking design research into the intimate connection between electronics and the vibrational energy of an acoustic. This innovative system features a very thin, flexible sensor that contours around the bridge of the J-15 for an intimate connection that translates to incredibly authentic tone. This amazing system also utilizes active components in the pickup to ensure a low impedance signal to the preamp, cutting 60-cycle hum and other outside noise.

Neck designed for maximum response

The mahogany neck on the J-15 is cut to a 1960s SlimTaper, D-shape profile for an ultra-comfortable fit in the hand. In addition, the glued-in neck joint enhances the resonance and fullness of each note, each strum. The smooth playability of the pau ferro fingerboard and deep cutaway make this acoustic ideal for both flatpicking and fingerpicking, letting you access those high notes and interesting chord shapes up the neck. Sweetwater pickers and strummers across various styles are impressed with the response and feel of this amazing neck.

Love this guitar!

I just sold my 30 yr old Martin D-28 for $1200 as we needed the money. I still wanted to have a guitar. I have had the Epiphone AJ-210ce package w/ the J15EC vintage sunburst guitar for 2 months now. All I did was put elixir strings on it. I love the feel, the sound, the look, and even the tuning of it! Mine has the Fishman electronics with tuner. The longer I have it the more I realize what a good deal it is! And it was under $400 with tax,and delivery, plus a nice hardshell case. Enjoying my new guitar this Christmas

A very impressive guitar.

This is my first guitar I have ever bought and it looks, feels, and plays great. I highly recommend this for beginners like me.

Great sound at a low cost

I've never owned a full size acoustic but I've played on many, so I was looking at quite a few when I came to the Epiphone J-15. Obviously the price jumps right off the screen, so I figured why not pull the trigger, how bad could it be?

Well surprise, it's not too bad at all! Upon unboxing the guitar I was immediately impressed with it's simple, yet elegant look. It's definitely a classic style you've seen a million times, but it looks much better in person than online. Mine came with no finish flaws or imperfections. Next it was to inspect the setup, and once tuned up I was pleasantly surprised to find the action was very close to the way I like it, and it has a comfortable, very playable neck. Now I'm not saying every one of these will come setup properly out of the box, but it's always nice when you get one that is.

BUT all is not perfect, as to be expected at this entry level cost. Right about then is when I noticed that the fretboard is very raw and not too pleasant feeling to say the least. It's fine for chord strumming, but once you get into some more technical playing it can get a little "sticky" feeling moving up and down the fretboard. Fortunately that is an easy enough fix with a little sanding and finishing oil. Interestingly enough this acoustic guitar came packaged with a 1/4 inch TS cable from Epiphone, which is just plain odd considering it's in no way an electric instrument LOL! I'll take the freebie though, you can never have too many cables.

All in all, if you're looking for a quality sounding dreadnought acoustic and don't want to pay too much, I think this Epiphone definitely hits the mark. Just be aware that you might need to put in a little work on the fretboard to bring it up to par.

Arrived unplayable

Nice guitar for the value with the included Bonus Bucks. However, the guitar arrived in an unplayable condition. After tuning the guitar up, I had to adjust the truss rod quite a bit due to the buzzing/fretting out from the 1st to the 7th fret on the neck. I got it to only really affect from the 5th to the 8th fret and it's "playable" but there's still considerable buzzing and fretting out when not playing lightly. Cannot solo or play single notes from 5th to 8th fret. Sweetwater sent some new strings to try, but it was a gift to my nephew who lives across the country, so I'm not sure when we'll get to see if that fixes it. My hunch is that it won't make a difference considering my knowledge and experience of over 25 years playing the instrument. I want to love it, but we'll have to see if it can be fixed.
