Own An Acoustic Masterpiece!

We're pleased to offer you this beautiful D-55 traditional-style dreadnought acoustic guitar. The D-55 reflects nearly half a century of Guild's master craftsmanship, featuring the kind of tonewoods that give you an unrivaled level of expression and melodic character. This D-55's eye-catching solid AAA spruce top reflects a warm and woody brilliance that speaks volumes about its tonal character. A breathtaking bookmatched Indian rosewood back and matching sides add extra aesthetic finesse as well as mellow overtones, while a 12" radius neck and ebony fretboard make the D-55 a pleasure to play.

The classic Guild Dreadnought

Guild has been building dreadnought acoustic guitars since the early '60s, and their fine products have ever since been revered for their amazingly balanced tones. The little details, such as the scalloped red spruce bracing and mother-of-pearl and abalone block position fret inlays add the kind of finishing touches that make the D-55 stand out as the work of art that it is. And its pure nitrocellulose lacquer finish is guaranteed to age gloriously with your D-55, maturing into continuously richer tonal qualities throughout the years.

Sounds like a cathedral !

As i was searching a strumming guitar, I just bought a brand new 2022 Guild D-55, with natural finish.

Aesthetically, the guitar is very beautiful, especially with the binding on the fingerboard.
The sound is enormous, while remaining very balanced. I have never played a guitar with such impressive bass, the guitar sounds like a cathedral!

Best Acoustic Guitar I've ever had.

I have a Guild D-55 that I bought in 2007. It was used but you couldn't tell it. A preacher just brought it in to the music shop I was in and traded it for a new Gibson Dove. When he left and I picked up the D-55 I just had to have it. I bought it right then and my affection for it has never faded. I have a Martin D-28 and a Gibson Songwriter acoustics and a couple electrics. Gibson Les Paul, Fender telecaster and a couple ASATs (just like the telecaster) for road guitars. But back to the D-55. This is without question, the best sounding, best playing acoustic guitar I've played. I live deep in the Appalachian Mountains, and we do like to play acoustic guitars. You can HEAR this one. It will come through above any I've played with and the neck and action feels like a good electric. The work is beautiful, ..... the sound superb. I just don't believe you can buy a better guitar. I put a pickup on mine shortly after purchase and it often subs for one of the electrics just because I hate to put it down. At least try one if you have an opportunity before you purchase anything else in this price range. You'll be glad you did.
Music background: just an off the wall, country boy, finger picker. Some country and folk bands. Broke my hand and now mostly just for fun.

Wow! Guild D-55

There is nothing I could say that would do this guitar justice. You have to play it for yourself. I have a Martin D-28 and a Taylor 714ce which are both great guitars, but this guitar has become my new favorite. Looks great and sounds even better! Extremely happy with my new D-55.

Tried 300 Guitars with my son in 1999. We were looking for the best sounding guitar we could find. We picked the D 55 Guild and named it Grace.

It has a sound that is thrilling to hear and touched our hearts. So we Got it. It was made in the 1990's in RI. We bought it in NH now we are in PA. I still get a thrill whenever I hear it played. I have often said I love the way it sounds so much I would pay to hear my son play it. Good memories. It is still in nice condition and did need some maintenance a few years ago but now its back in tip top condition good as new. My son also put a pick up in it a few years back. Enjoy yours.
Music background: Son of a music teacher

The best of the best.

If you're considering this guitar and/or others you can just stop and buy the D-55. I was very torn between Martin D28 and Gibson J45 for a long time lots of mixed reviews on both. The D-55 has no mixed reviews, they're all great and now owning it the reviews are 100% accurate!
