Semi-hollow Offset D'Angelico
Available as a standard Deluxe model for the first time, the Deluxe Bedford SH is a semi-hollowbody spin on D'Angelico's flagship solidbody electric guitar. The Deluxe Bedford SH's balanced-sounding alder body resonates beautifully, thanks to its semi-hollow design, while a diverse combination of Seymour Duncan pickups puts an entire universe of tones at your fingertips. A set-through 3-piece neck and silky-smooth ebony fingerboard ensure that this electric guitar plays as great as it sounds. Aside from their excellent tone and comfort, D’Angelico instruments look stunning as well. Paying tribute to D’Angelico's acoustic tradition, this guitar has art-deco-styled stair-step tuning keys, large block inlays, and an F-hole-inspired pickguard. The D'Angelico Deluxe Bedford SH also includes a Wilkinson 6-point tremolo for texturized chords and expressive leads.

Curvy semi-hollowbody combines comfort and resonance
The Deluxe Bedford SH combines the comfort of a curvy offset body with the one-of-a-kind resonance of a semi-hollow instrument. Thanks to its alder body, this Bedford supplies a balanced-sounding tonal foundation for its electronics, resonating with equal helpings of lows, mids, and highs. Paired with the set-through 3-piece neck and ebony fingerboard, the Deluxe Bedford SH creates an incredible singing sustain that you’re guaranteed to love. You’ll also appreciate this semi-hollowbody’s satin-finished "C"-shaped neck, and its nearly microscopic neck joint ensures that you'll have no trouble reaching the highest frets.
Seymour Duncan pickups yield a multitude of useful tones
When you plug in and play for the first time, you'll be surprised by how much power the D’Angelico Deluxe Bedford SH has. It's loaded with Seymour Duncan STR52-1 single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions, plus a Seymour Duncan SM-1b Mini Humbucker at the bridge. The Five-Two gets its name from its unique blend of Alnico II and V rod magnets, which yield punchy lows and smooth, sweet highs. The Mini Humbucker churns out classic bright, gritty tones with enough snarl and bite to cut through dense layers of instrumentation. Using this Bedford’s 5-way switch, you'll have access to a range of tones, including the spank and twang of the single-coils and the snarling grit of the mini humbucker. Master volume and tone knobs round out the Deluxe Bedford SH’s tonal controls.
The D’Angelico legacy
After mastering his craft during an 18-year apprenticeship, luthier John D’Angelico opened his shop in Manhattan’s Little Italy in 1932. Catering to New York’s many jazz musicians over the ensuing three decades, D’Angelico and a single apprentice became New York’s foremost stringed-instrument builders, creating over 1,000 treasured archtop guitars until John’s death in 1964. Following his passing, D’Angelico’s legacy lived on only through his rare, legendary instruments. After decades, the D’Angelico brand has resurfaced, bringing back the playability and attention to detail of the company’s New York roots. Today, Sweetwater is delighted to offer this fine line of distinguished instruments. D’Angelico uses state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and the finest available materials to create playable works of art for today’s guitarist. From a modest shop in Little Italy to the world stage, D’Angelico’s dedication to quality craftsmanship ensures that this brand won’t be going dormant again any time soon.
