Tap into Gretsch's legacy in American music

The G7593T Billy Duffy Falcon with Bigsby hollowbody electric guitar is a proud part of Gretsch's legacy in American music. It wasn't long before Gretsch was making mandolins, ukuleles, and eventually flat-top guitars, contributing to the very roots of American music. So when you pick up a Gretsch guitar, you're holding more than a great axe, you're holding a piece of American music history.

Versatile Rock & Jazz machine.

Bright, yet full-bodied. Extremely attractive. Loud. Can get screechy if you don't put something in those small f-holes. Now what was her name again? ...oh right, I was talking about the Billy Duffy Signature White Falcon!

I believe somewhere around the $2250 mark the quality-to-value ratio goes out the window. That said, if you've got $... to burn, and you want a unique Falcon that sounds excellent dirty or clean, then you should consider this guitar. It's basically the only guitar I own worth more than $600.

I was worried about the glossed finish at first (thought it might make my sweaty hand stutter down the neck). But whatever finish is used on the neck, the gloss doesn't hinder speed at all.

After spending a couple weeks with it, I'll be using it 50% for home studio recording and 50% as a gorgeous piece of wall art! The white and silver sparkle is quite striking.

Best Electric Guitar I’ve Played

Solid, heavy and incredibly wonderful. Always been a fan of Billy Duffy and The Cult and the tones from this guitar are amazing. Easy to go from huge sounds, feedback and distortion to a great clean sound. It's a gorgeous guitar and worth every penny. Ben Porter at Sweetwater is also the best of the best and has been my go to person for all my equipment now.

BD Falcon rocks

I own several Gretsch's, but this one is a cut above. It has a low end growl that surprised me, but was still crystal clear when I toned it down. Every single detail is engineered perfectly. Probably one of the best feeling guitars I've played out of the box and without modifications. It doesn't need them.

Top-Notch Quality! Tons of FUN!

The Terada factory is putting out the best production Gretsches EVER. I own PRS Core guitars and have owned Gibson and Fender custom shop guitars and these Terada Gretsches are at least as well built as any of them, if not better. I"ve owned mine for 7 years now and have had zero problems with any aspect of the build. After a pro set up (which I get on every guitar I buy), the tuning stability of the Bigsby has been spot on. The electronics all operate flawlessly now - as they did 7 years ago. The finish has aged slightly (well yeah - it"s nitro), but that has just made it even better looking.

I love the pickups in this guitar. They"re unique, though still recognizably Filtertrons. I have TV Jones Classics (which I love) in another Gretsch. These ain"t that. They"re more raucous, more cutting, but still with that great Gretsch flavor.

Beyond the great build quality and the great sound. This thing is FUN! I don"t know how to quantify or describe it except to say, it looks good; I look good playing it (it"s a fantastic stage guitar); I love the sounds I get from it, whether I"m playing clean, edge of breakup, or full on over-drive.

I have 14 electric guitars. Out of those 14, there are 3 that get 98% of my playing time. This is one of those 3 (along with a PRS DGT and a Gretsch 6121-FTW).

Worth every penny and highly recommended.

A very BIG, very versatile guitar

This is (was, I guess, now that I have several others) my first Gretsch. I'd been considering one for a while, but wasn't sure which model would best fit with my perception of what a Gretsch 'oughta be'. I'd been thinking some flavor of 6120, or maybe a Duo Jet.

Then I went to see the Cult, doing the "Electric Anniversary" tour, and I decided to look at this. I live about 90 minutes from Sweetwater, so I drove up to have a look. And I was very impressed.

It's a BIG guitar, and I'm not a very large guy (but then, neither is Brian Setzer). But it's very easy to play. The neck profile is a little more full than the typical Gretsch toothpick, it's kind of a 'D' profile with a subtle flattening on the back. It sounds great, both acoustically and plugged in; the pickups are wound hotter than the standard 'HS' Filters, probably midrange PAF in terms of output, but still sound right. The Bigsby works...about as well as Bigsbys ever work, I like the Chet-style arm, and if you work within its limitations it will stay in decent tune.

I played this, a G6128T-DCM (double-cut Duo Jet), and a 6120 (don't recall the flavor). Even though this is the least 'Gretschy' of them - longer scale, bigger body, 'hot' pickups...it's the one I bought. I love the Baldwin aesthetics and the nickel and chrome against the pure (not aged) white. Looks so much 'cleaner' than gold, to me.

My only real gripe is, it's awfully expensive. Comparing street prices, it's pretty much knocking on the door of CS Gibson stuff. IMO that's a lot of money for a (albeit very well-made) Japanese import. But hey, it does come with a "Billy Duffy" tea towel!
