This Travel Bass Packs Plenty of Thump

The Traveler Guitar TB-4P travel bass is your ticket to big bass tone on the go. At fewer than seven pounds in weight and just over 35 inches long, the TB-4P Bass is compact enough to fit in a standard airline overhead compartment. The TB-4P travel bass doesn’t sacrifice tone, though — the alder body and maple neck provide an articulate tone that rivals the sound of full-sized basses. You’ll be amazed at how natural it feels to play the 32-inch scale-length maple neck, and how the double-cutaway design makes for comfortable fretboard maneuvering. And when you’re ready to plug the TB-4P Bass into your favorite amp, the MM-101 split coil pickup will have everyone believing they’re listening to a full-sized bass. There’s even a headphone amp right onboard for silent practice and quiet onstage monitoring, along with an 1/8-inch aux input for grooving along to practice tracks. If you want big bass tone that’s easy to take on the road, Sweetwater highly recommends the Traveler Guitar TB-4P electric bass guitar.

Compact, travel-friendly design with a full 32-inch scale

Can a travel bass feel and play like a full-sized instrument? Yes, it can, and the TB-4P travel bass is proof. This amazingly compact bass guitar features a 32-inch-scale neck topped with a classic maple fretboard. So even though it’s the most portable bass guitar you’ve ever played, you won’t have to compromise your playing style one bit.

Traveler Guitar TB-4P Travel Bass Features:

  • Compact size for true mobility — fits in a standard airline overhead compartment
  • Designed with choice tonewoods for a no-compromise tone
  • Features an 1/8-inch aux input jack to connect your portable music player — practice anywhere you go, with the privacy of headphones

Excellent bass, not a toy

The first thing that may strike you about this bass is the headless design. It's not a toy, or a gimmick. The 32" scale is a bit more comfortable for my short stubby fingers. The roundwound strings that come on it are perfectly playable. It has excellent on board electronics for solo practice. The on board distortion/overdrive settings are a bit much, but that's not my style, it does sound good. The bridge hardware and tuners are a bit basic, but fit the price point. The Duncan Design pickup also sounds great. A few more bucks in the bridge and tuners wouldn't be a bad thing, but again that would push the cost up. I might upgrade the bridge soon. The tuners might be harder to upgrade.

great little bass

great sounding bass. The input jack allowed me to plug in my phone to get backing tracks, etc, and headphones in the other jack kept me from bothering others with my practice. Traveled across country switching flights and all that and stowed easily in the overhead. Recommend this bass for anyone traveling who doesn't want to leave music behind. I was surprised how good this sounded. my son in law used this for his recordings (he produces some music) and he was pleased as well. I wouldn't put this up against any high end basses but it definitely is as good as many midrange models. the compact size is super cool and I got a few compliments on it.

Travelor Guitar Bass, originally good product but spiraled downhill from there

I purchased this traveler Bass Guitar from Sweetwater a number of years ago and had a terrific experience playing it and traveling with it. The fact that I could plug my earphones in and add my iPhone for music was wonderful and well appreciated by my wife. When in my man cave, I could hook it up to my fender amp and get great sound. I now have a major problem in that the small pc board inside the earphone and iPhone jack is apparently not working. Tried replacing the batteries to no avail. The major plug in still works directly to the am but not the connectors which really make this Bass a terrific instrument. Took it to the local guitar shop who took it apart and can't fix it without the electronic schematics and possibly the pc board. What really is terrible is that the Traveler Guitar Support group (guy named Dan) has not returned by calls after leaving three messages on his tape machine voice mail.

Obviously seems like there is no back up of this product by the company that builds it which is a shame. My friend told me to buy another one however not sure I want to rely on an a products that provides no support despite multiple calls to their "support" person .
