Great Controller!

I was looking for ways to make my home-recording process more efficient and this really is helping since I sit a distance away from my computer when I'm recording. I'm still learning the functions and switching processes but I already have found this to be a great solution! Much easier and faster than using my mouse to make the changes that I need to make during the process. I also like the fact that it is a physical unit with buttons and a movable knob (as opposed to using a mouse and cursor or touch screen controls - yeah, I'm 'old school')! Well worth the additional cost!! Plus, the thing is very well built, stays where I put it, and just looks cool. The only thing I wasn't aware of was that that the connecting cord is very short (12") so I use a 6' usb extension cord and I can keep the controller near me with no difficulty. You will need to secure the connector of the extension cord to the Controller cord so that it doesn't slip out. I use a simple rubber band double knot to hold the connectors in place - works great! You will definitely need the extension cord if you're using a desktop computer or if your laptop (or other recording device/hardware) is out of arms length reach. I definitely recommend this if you're using one of the Apogee Element units!

Apogee Control

Boy, This little desktop control unit is going to make things a lot easier when switching, input/output's, during recording and playback !!! It will also, give the old mouse a little time off... Easy volume control, switching between headphones and monitor sets..... And easy assignment capabilities !!! I'm using it with the Apogee MK2 Symphony... You will have to download the new "control" software, which could take a little time to update your MK2 Symphony system... But, once done, man, you won't believe all the options you'll have.... I wasn't hesitant to buy this, because, hey, I can just use my mouse to click, but boy, using it, really makes it easier and I like the new things in the software, which makes, workflow, quick and easy... Thanks to my man, Will Newbill for all his help !!! Mikey

Apogee Control

I purchased the Apogee Control to add additional funtionality to my Symphony Mk II and this delivered. Talkback, dim, mono sum, for headphones and monitor outs, and customizable shortcut keys. Now I can use one knob for the headphones levels and the other for the monitors. Or switch a setting on the control software and use the control to adjust one of the 4 mixer outputs. I have the Mk II racked off the the back left on my desk. Sometimes it gets old reaching over to adjust the headphone mix, so it's nice to have the apogee control sitting right next to my keyboard and mouse. The build feels strong. I did need to add a usb extender cable as the included cable is pretty short, but I get why the went with a shorter cable. A lot of users will not need the extra cable so it eliminates that extra long cable clutter to your desk space. It's vey intuitive and you can customize the 8 buttons to your needs. Apogee just brought the Symphony Mk II up to a higher level. Just the added talkback feature that let me select my monitors built in mic for the source, has eliminated the need to use up one of my high quality 16 channels converts. It is totally worth the price. Very happy with this purchase.
