About RODE Microphones

For over 50 years, the minds behind Australian mic maker RODE have been bringing pro audio to value-minded songwriters, producers, and podcasters everywhere. Husband and wife duo Astrid and Henry Freedman launched Freedman Electronics — predecessor to the RODE brand — in 1967. Freedman soon became a leader in loudspeakers, audio amplifiers, and eventually microphones. The RODE name took off in the 1980s once Henry’s son Peter introduced the world to the mics that would eventually become the iconic NT1 and NT2. Suffice it to say, the audio world has never been the same since.

RODE Condenser Microphones

RODE is perhaps best known for its solid-state and tube studio condenser microphones. LDCs like the RODE NT1 and NTK have been helping music producers of all stripes get that polished studio vocal sound for decades. Matched pairs of SDCs like the RODE M5, NT5, and TF-5 continue to be leading performers among music producers and sound designers who want true-to-life stereo capture of instruments and sound sources.

RODE Camera Microphones

RODE also helped shape the landscape of on-camera audio with its VideoMic series of camera-mount microphones. Options like the original VideoMic, VideoMic GO II, and VideoMic NTG have proven to be massive hits among indie filmmakers and content creators since the mid-2000s onward. Today, the VideoMic series also includes several smartphone microphones, including the RODE VideoMic Me-L and VideoMic Me-C, for creators looking to capture spontaneous audio at concerts, trade shows, and events directly from their phones.

RODE Podcast Microphones

Podcasting is bigger than ever today, and RODE has been a major player in the podcast microphone space. The all-metal RODE PodMic succeeds in delivering that big, broadcast sound to budget-minded podcasters at an entry-level price. Folks looking for a self-contained podcasting solution without the need for an audio interface or external podcast mixer often find all they need in the RODE Podcaster USB mic.

RODE USB Microphones

Compact, easy-traveling USB microphones have transformed the content world as we know it. RODE is a known leader in the USB microphone space, introducing the market to such modern classics as the RODE NT-USB, NT-USB Mini, and NT-USB+ along with the XDM-100 and XCM-50 studio microphones with onboard DSP.
