I put a whole set of Tung Sols in a 1998 Fender Blues Jr and a Canibas Rex speaker from Sweetwater. I believe this amp sounds better than new! The sound is amazing! Very happy with the gear and prices from Sweetwater.

Bought these to replace some unknown tubes that came with my 15 watt Stage Right guitar amp. The old tubes sounded pretty good but did not last very long before one of the power tubes went microphonic. These new Tung Sol tubes sound louder and ballsier for sure. Clean tones are smoother and cranking the gain really has a gutty tone. Only been a few weeks but so far I am liking these.

I've been repairing and building amps since the late 70's and find EL84 circuits to be brutal on the output tubes, especially that most of us like to push them past the point of break-up. Some other brands only lasted a week in my personal amp.

I find new Tung Sol EL84's to be as good sounding and as reliable as any NOS. They have a nice balance of headroom, gentile compression, cream vs. crunch, throughout the range of volume. The lower frequencies are tight, even when the bass is turned up. Highs have chime without being harsh and mids are forward, without sounding boxy.

This particular purchase went into a friend's Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36 Combo (Celestion Vintage 30), which is a strident amp to begin with. A huge difference from the stock Shughang output tubes, more musical IMHO.

I have the Tung Sol EL84's in my own design and built amp, the AMI 'Blonde', which is the epitome of classic rock and country, into a Celsition Blue speaker.

Tubes work great, no more ringing or crackling. I ordered 2 sets.
