Reviews

Drum-set stick
Yes, I use this massive drumstick on my kit. This 2S produces a dark full big sound on my ride cymbal (especially the bell), and will produce barbaric tom tones. Rim-shots on my snare are dark and loud with these.

My main drum set stick has been the Vic Firth metal for around 13 years. I do play very loud, and my hands take a lot of shock, and I've had carpal tunnel/tendon issues before. Small drumsticks, and die-cast hoops are super hard on your hands. So I started experimenting with different sticks/hoops/tapes. I was told oak absorbs more shock by a teacher, and maple absorbs more shock than hickory by someone else(both reputable sources). I got my hands on some Tommy Aldridge 2S's, and they vibrate way more that the VF METAL (which is almost exactly the same size). I tried Ahead's ROCK XL, and TOMMY LEE CONCERT. Those defiantly do take away shock, and I have been using their marching sticks on my practice pad for the past year. I do prefer a thicker grip, and the musical tone of wood, over the Ahead's drum-set sticks though.

these sticks LAST! I would break 1 or 2 sticks every show before using these 2S's.

Hope Vater makes these Nightstick 2S's forever!

Almost ideal
I play strictly heal down which leads me to sit far away from my bass drum and hi hats. Therefore, a longer stick is ideal to keep my arms comfortably by my side and still reach the hi hats. These are the longest sticks I've been able to find. They're almost ideal except they're just slightly too thick and heavy for my taste. Vater, if you're reading this, please make 17.25" sticks in a wider variety of thicknesses! Til then, I'm sticking with Vic Firth Abe Laboriel Jr signature sticks, Vic Firth Questlove signature sticks and the Vic Firth Freestyle line that are all 17" and just stretching that extra 1/4"
