I bought this after talking to Ian, a Sweetwater sales engineer. I explained the scenario and he took into account our budget and our goals. I connected our sound board to the RCA connectors on the iRig, added a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter and plugged this right into my iPhone SE (2022). I used an iOS app called Mavis to use only the audio from the iRig and specifically exclude the iPhone's built-in microphones.

I highly recommend the iRig Stream for anyone on a tight budget who wants to get a quick and easy video with clean audio from a sound board.

I am a K12 IT guy, and I know very little about audio besides matching the shape of the connectors. All it took was a quick test to figure out I needed to turn off Loopback, via the switch on the left side, and what level of audio input I needed, via the dials on the right side for input "Stream" and output "HP" (headphones).

This IS a nice little unit but I believe the limitation with using the headphone jack on a phone/iPad forces mono because there are only 3 channels in that jack. Left and right audio OUTPUT to headphones or speakers, one mic INPUT= mono.

I'm giving 3 stars because although the limitation is not on iRig, the specs on the box lead you to believe you CAN record stereo. You can HOOK UP a stereo source but it will be "summed" to mono when you record.

So, for a synth that has Chorus (which usually just detunes one channel), you should NOT use Chorus on the synth (or any stereo effect) but record it dry and use Garageband, AUM or some other app to recreate a stereo experience.

Sadly natural instruments like piano or a Leslie speaker will not sound as good. Still for multi track stuff mono channels with effects added in post this unit will be useful. It has a clean signal with low floor noise.

I hope this is helpful for someone. I'd look at an iRig that uses the lightning or USB port. That will get you stereo input

Overall a good device besides all the noise it makes. I'm going to buy the pro and hopefully it doesn't do that.

I have now bought 2 different devices to run audio into my iPhone but the video always captures mono sound. Very frustrating. Mono is amateur sounding and I am not sure why it is offered. I wish I could just find one that works
