Great Amp!

We an count on this to work well every time, all the time. Plus it looks pretty cool too.

Great Amps!!

I have been running my dual 18 JBL subs with a pair of Crown K2's for 20 years. Finally one of them quit and there are no parts available to fix it, so I had to find a replacement. I purchased a pair of XTi 4002's and updated the connections in my rack. Hauled it out at the next show and BOOM!!! I spent the first 10 minutes adjusting the bass levels in my entire mix. Very happy with the tight solid lows. The fans aren't terribly loud and the amps don't get too hot. The wait reduction in the rack noticeable, as well. Looking forward to another long happy relationship with my new Crown power amps.

Game changer for the price!

So i ended up replacing 2 crown xls 1500. i was running them in bridge mono mode powering 2 jbl srx 4718x per side and beleive it or not it actually did not clip until i started to turn up the kick a little more to sound a little more punchy. I let it distort a little and it did it without any problem. But i knew i wasent going to be able to power my subs for much longer like that i started to have head room problems so i dedcided to put them down. And got a crown xti 4002! and wow i have it up around 2 a clock it is amazing it moves the subs easier more smooth better dapning factor and no clipping! great solid amplifier from crown!

Solid performance

I've have two of these amps and have had no issues with either of them. Our band has a few different PA systems at our disposal, of different sizes and configurations, depending on the needs and application of the job. Depending on the system used, these amps have run our mains, subs, or monitors, and performed well, no matter what we threw at them.

I noticed some were having issues with this amp pushing subs. Perhaps there are different schools of thought on power application, but I'll just say that I was taught that a power amp should be able to deliver at least twice the program power at which the speakers are rated. Example: If you're running subs rated at 2400 watts program power, then your amp needs to be able to send them at least 4800 watts, especially if they're running at high volumes.

The XTi 4002 amp will deliver 3200 watts, bridged mono @ 4 ohms...which means that to get satisfactory performance, your sub should be rated at no more than 1600 watts program power. If you're running them at high volume, then yes.... trying to push a 4800 watt peak sub with a 3200 watt power amp is probably not going to get you the performance you're looking for....and will clip the amp, or could potentially damage either or both the amp or the speakers. Fortunately, most amps today have protection circuits built-in, but still, I'd rather not push my luck.

In this example, the Crown XTi 6002, not the 4002, would be the proper amp choice out of the XTi series, as that amp will give you 6000 watts.

I say these things only as a caution to suggest that it will be to your benefit to know and understand the needs and requirements of the application. Trying to push an amp to power a speaker it was not designed for, is not the fault of the amp. If you have questions or need help, call Sweetwater. After all, it's what they do.

Use the XTi 4002 in an application with the properly rated speakers...either mains, subs or monitors, and I think you'll be very happy with it. I can say for sure that I am.
