What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Light Weight, Powerful, Flexible and it has Crown on it's Label
I have purchased several of these units and they stand as our primary amplifier for all our set-ups. We currently are Central Florida's #1 DJ Service and our equipment is a big part of that. I gradually made the change over from some old school Crest Amplifiers which weighed literally 2-3 times as much as these Crown amplifiers with the same power specs. I was not sold at first as power usually comes from huge and heavy power reserve blocks but Crown has done it. We have 4 main set-ups for each of our DJs that run hard every weekend. Subs, mains and indoors and outdoors all without a hiccup. The XTI 2 series in General is just awesome with 4 models with DSP to choose from we use all and everyone of them has been more impressive than the latter. I highly recommend any amplifier with Crown name on it, especially the XTI 2 amplifiers. They pack a good punch in any application and are an excellent value at this price point. Lastly, there are audiophiles out there that will talk about dampening factor and how these amps shouldn't be on subwoofer duty etc...Listen, I have been doing this a long time 29+ years and yes they aren't my first choice for subs, as they are not amplifiers with huge power reserves but they do an excellent job if you understand their real application for mains and DJ playback. They power subs excellent in this category. They just won't be found in the subwoofer amp case at an Iron Maiden concert. That isn't their best role; however, their older brothers and sisters in the Macrotech Series will be found there and that's an excellent linkage to a great family of Amplifiers. Crown is a name that has a rich history and that means a real lot in the amplifier game.

I love my new Crown amp.
I love my new Crown amp. It replaces the butterflied Crown CE1000 that was onboard my JBL MPro418SP bass bin. It handles throbbing bass without breaking a sweat. This is how bass amplification should be. I will never-ever again purchase an speaker with an amp onboard (except for studio monitors).

The machine is great. Understanding how to set it to levels, well, you may need a sound engineering degree for that.
