Reviews

Joy to have in my collection and on stage!
Just have to relay my experience using this cymbal for the past couple of shows. It is fastly becoming my most favorite crash / splash cymbal and at a price that is soooo affordable? I use it in combination, at times, with a Zildjian 10" splash and WOW ... do the not only compliment each other, they sound AWESOME together! The shows I've used this XSR 12 in .. I've received nothing but praise for its ability to cut through the mix and shine in tonality complimenting the rest of my cymbal set up. I would say, Sabian has struck a fine tuned note with this new line of affordable cymbals not to be taken lightly. I am currently looking to purchase the 18" china. The trashy sound of this china is more to my ear and collection than previous I've owned by Zildjian and Paste. Nice job Sabian!
Music background: Professional working drummer / composer.
Now you're talking!
My first review of this cymbal was on the side of giving a bit of advise as to checking the quality after purchase. The first cymbal I received was defective. You can read my firs review explanation entitled, "Check the product carefully".
My replacement, thank you Sweetwater, just came in today and it is in perfect condition as expected. The sound is just what I wanted after hearing the video. The tonal characteristic of this cymbal compliments my collection beautifully especially pertaining to my splashes. I have an 8, 10, and now the 12 but they are not all Sabian. However, this cymbal gave me exactly the lower tonality I had before from my oldest 12" cracked slightly by the bell thus changing the sound quality.
I am very pleased with my purchase and likewise satisfied with Sweetwaters gracious return policies. This cymbal has a nice crisp glassy sound yet not too high or too low in tonal quality. A nice highlight for certain passages and solos.

Check the cymbal carefully!
I loved the sound of this cymbal in the video. However, when I received mine, I carefully looked it over and found one important imperfection. It appears that the cymbal was "chipped" or "cracked" and the factory "melted" in a "patch". I can see the outline of the crack on the edge of the cymbal. Also, it appears it was polished over using some sort of scouring pad or something abrasive. You can clearly see the swirl marks on the cymbal. Really? How this one got through is beyond me. Also, the sound of the cymbal was no where near what is portrayed in the video. I'm sending this one back for a replacement. Hopefully, Sabian will get this right with the replacement. This is in no way any reflection on Sweetwater as I believe since the cymbal came in the manufactures plastic bag, there is no way anyone at Sweetwater will take the time to inspect them before shipping out to the customer. Bottom line ... on any cymbal you purchase ANYWHERE ... inspect them with a magnifying glass if you must, but make sure it's in the condition you expect it to be when purchasing a "new" cymbal. And, for the record ... I've rarely ever purchased used cymbals unless I inspect them personally. This cymbal should be a fine addition to my collection ... when I receive one in "new" condition and not repaired.
Music background: Professional working drummer / 40 years strong.
