Create Bass Lines with Your Feet

If you have a Hammond XPK-130G, you can create engaging bass lines with your feet. Use this 13-note MIDI pedalboard to trigger your sound module or virtual instrument of choice, or take advantage of the XPK-130G's built-in sounds. The XPK-130G is equipped with advanced MIDI functionality including MIDI Merge, along with Auto Power Off, Velocity Curve, Master Tune, and more. And everything is packed into a convenient, stylish design. If your band is missing a bassist, the Hammond XPK-130G is a great way to fill the gap.

Tons of features in a convenient, stylish design

Despite its compact form factor, the XPK-130G is loaded with great features. With the XPK-130G's selectable MIDI channel, it's easy to integrate it into your existing rig. MIDI Merge allows MIDI data received by the XPK-130G to be merged with its generated MIDI information and then sent out of its MIDI Out jack. Auto Power Off conserves energy by powering the unit down after 30 minutes of sitting idle. Velocity Curve determines how notes respond to key velocity. Master Tune changes the tuning calibration of the built-in Sound Generator.

Built-in sounds for standalone operation

While the Hammond XPK-130G is a stellar MIDI controller, its internal Sound Generator makes it a great standalone instrument as well. Amongst its built-in sounds are an electric organ, fingered bass, pipe organ, synth bass, E-bass, and double bass. Musicians at Sweetwater have found lots of uses for the XPK-130G's built-in sounds (they're invaluable if your bass player calls in sick).

Speaker not included.

Hammond delivers legendary keyboard tones

It's virtually impossible to think of Hammond without having the sound of the legendary B3 organ float through your mind. First introduced in 1935, few instruments have had as large an impact on music history as Hammond's B3. Today, Hammond digitally re-creates their tonewheel sound with the XK series organs, complete with B3 presets and drawbars. In addition, Hammond also offers a MIDI system with real drawbars for achieving those signature organ sounds with your existing MIDI keyboard setup. Now you can take the classic sound of Hammonds everywhere.

Built-in Sounds Include:

  • Electric Organ
  • Fingered Bass
  • Pipe Organ

Hammond xpk130G pedals

I am most pleased with these. As a serious organist, their portability and functionality are superb. I expect to order a second unit soon. Thanks most sincerely!

Hammond XPK-130G

I have 2 Hammond setups. I have a SK-2 with XPK-200 pedals, and also a SK1-73 with XPK-100 pedals. Which one I use depends on the type of gig I am doing.

I use the SK1 without the pedals for gigs I am playing with bands, or with the pedals if I am doing a quick "in and out" like an offsite wedding ceremony.

I occasionally had an issue that if I was not careful (especially playing a "Bb") that the tip of my shoe would hit the "Lock/Transpose" button on the top face and then depending on my next note the keyboard would either change patches or change keys, and usually at the most embarrassing moment!

The XPK-200 that I have is more "bare bones", there are no buttons to hit. The new XPK-100G is the same, no buttons along the top or front. To be honest, this is why I bought it.

I know a new feature is that there are now built in sounds, I have not tried them yet but all my prior experience with Hammond teaches me that they are great if I ever need to use them.

Sweetwater had it to me in 2 days after I ordered, I plugged them in and started playing right out of the box.

The only thing that I find different for my setup, is that I have everything on a surge power strip, and when I turn that on the XPK-100 would turn on. The XPK-130G has a power switch so I need to turn them on after powering up the rig. Other than that, 100% satisfied!

Definitely Worthwhile

So, I kinda purchased the Hammond XPK-130G on a lark. I've always wanted a Moog Taurus, but those are waaaaaaay too expensive. Alas, I will hold onto that dream forever. In the meantime, I have the Hammond to be a very worthy placeholder. I had actually been looking for a pedal key unit for quite a while, but never found one that really did anything similar to a Taurus. I wanted something that had its own array of sounds built in, not just a MIDI controller.

Well, I was on Sweetwater one day and just happened to see this. I saw that it had five built-in voicings and that the very first one was probably a Taurus-like sound. The MIDI feature, for me, is just an added bonus. There are some things I'd like to try with MIDI, but I really want those deep bass tones most of all. I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on it.

I did have initial apprehension when I received it, but that was tossed aside the very first time I used it at practice at church. Man, this pedal will fill a room! Those deep bass tones are so wonderful. They just take the worship songs to a new level. Gone are those vacant, boring vacuums of sound. The implementation of this pedal has really spurred my creativity. It's made me think of different ways to approach the songs.

I'm not sure how many bass players will want something like this, but I consider it to be absolutely essential to my rig now. It really helps me control that urge to want to overplay some songs. It's helped me realize that sometimes less really is more. Who knew dynamics were so important? Lol! Probably everybody but me.

Now, I really only use the first preset at church, but the other four presets are also solid. I really like the organ [second] setting. I have definitely used that a few times during our worship service. The synth [third] setting is going to be a little more difficult to implement, but I'll try to figure that out. Setting four and five are just two different bass settings. I believe one is an electric bass and the other is supposed to be an upright. They are fine, but nothing tops the first setting.

I certainly hope this has been helpful. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who may be on the fence. Trust me, you will not regret it.

So high quality!

I'm the bass player for my band. Looking for a Rush-style keyboard extension to our three-piece sound. Took this unit to rehearsal after playing with it on my own for a couple of days. My band's impressions:

This thing is built like a brick.
It's so PROFESSIONAL sounding.
It really cuts through, and fills up the band's sound.
It's SO WELL MADE.
We couldn't stop raving about how awesome it sounded. I can just barely not stomp on my own toes while I"m using it, I can't wait to see what they think after I've gotten some technique down.

I plan on adding a keyboard to this unit but IT DOES NOT NEED ONE. High quality organ sound, high quality bass sounds, all the benefits I was hoping for appeared instantly.

This is one well-made instrument. You could tie it to the back of the car and drag it down the road to practice (but don't). My drummer and guitar player commented multiple times on how good it sounded. It also has an excellent form factor, stands up neatly on one end for storage, with nice rubber feet.

Cannot over-state how impressively well-made the XPK is. For $... it feels like I got a much more expensive tour-grade piece of equipment.

Great value

I had my pedal I have used since 1979 die.... I almost was going to go with it since you can not buy a new one! And as I was checking online I came across this pedal. I had to call and make sure it has on board sound. Told me it sure did so I bought it and with only one week of part time use I am enjoying it big time. So I guess I will not have to follow in the footsteps of my old one and stick around the blue ball a tad longer or at least until I get the hang of this new pedal!!
