What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Good power amp on a budget
I got this amp to run some VRX 918 subs. I run 1 or 2 subs on it in bridged mode and it does very well. My use case is 3 piece blues/rock/funk band playing everything from bars to festivals and this amp does very well. It's paired with a Peavey IPR 3000DSP (first Gen) when I need more than 2 subs. I run mine in bandpass mode with a 32hz high pass and 90hz low pass typically. All in all, solid amp

Super Amp for Bridged Mono!
I bought this amp to power a passive Yamaha dual CSV218 subwoofer rated at 2400 watts that I bought a few years back (wish they still made them). In Bridged Mono mode this amp absolutely delivers! The built in DSP and crossover controls are perfect and the Yamaha subwoofer with this amp completely dominate any venue where I need that extra bass gut punch. I put it on Par with the QSC GX-7 in performance, but much better since it has many more features. It rocks and will deliver!
Crown XLS 2502 775W 2 Channel Amplifier
My needs were a bit outdated: I wanted to run a pair of Bose 901, Series VI, speakers through an equally dated Pioneer SX-60 (80 watts/channel) and/or a Pioneer SX-V90 (110 watts/channel). Both of these receivers require "tape in/tape out" connections to use the provided Bose Equalizer. I already have two systems similarly set up with Bose 1800 Series VI Power Amplifiers BUT the fans are loud and noticeable. I wanted something with comparable power, but quieter. The manual from Bose says the 901 Series V can handle "unlimited" power in "non-commercial applications" while the Series VI says 425 watts/channel. I contacted my Sweetwater rep, Bill Newbill, and he gave me his logic and, given the set-up, the best amp would be the Crown XLS 2502. It arrived a few days later and here's what I think: Why did I buy 2 used Bose Power Amps on e-bay for $450.00 each, with no warranty, sight unseen, when I could get a new, quieter, easy to connect, Crown amplifier with a 2-year warranty? I read all the reviews on Sweetwater. Some loved it. Some didn't. But for my set-up, it is perfect. Well made, quiet fan, easy to hook-up, easy to read display, and easy connection instructions in the manual. I registered the Crown XLS 2502 online. This is a solid, powerful, well-made amplifier with great specifications, backed by Sweetwater and Crown and pumping enough power to run 4 Bose 901's *each speakers is 8 ohms* without any problem.

Amp is clean, runs quiet and plenty powerful. For the price, it's a steal.

Don't fear.
Gave away the SLA.
