Resounding presence with 59/09 humbuckers
As with any PRS instrument, no effort is spared to ensure a diverse range of powerful sonic possibilities is always within reach, and this Wood Library Custom 24 is no exception. Outfitted with a pair of 59/09 humbuckers, these passive pickups have been meticulously engineered to meld clarity and presence without pulling punches. Each pickup is wound with Alnico 2 magnets and complemented by a 5-way selector to create a vast range of tone-crafting potential. Rich harmonics and blooming overtones abound with the 59/09 pickups, no matter where you place them, imbuing your neck-position output with a shimmering brightness while the bridge-position tones maintain plenty of oomph with a slight cut upper-mid section.
Ultra-fast PRS Pattern Thin profile
One of the speediest neck profiles you’ll find on a PRS instrument, the Pattern Thin shape is a modernized version of the original PRS Wide Thin profile. This shape forms the perfect fretboard foundation for blazing-fast riffing, technicality, and articulation — a perfect match for this Wood Library Custom 24’s modern-minded M.O. The Pattern Thin shape is by no means strictly for shredders — Sweetwater guitarists of all styles and backgrounds have come to favor the Pattern Thin profile for its lightning-fast feel and comfortable grip.
Only a 10-Top will do
Curl, flame, quilt, and spalt: even in the early days of Paul Reed Smith’s guitar-building career, the company had a reputation for the sheer quality of figuring on their maple tops, with dazzling lines and grain patterns that make any plain top pale in comparison. Naturally, customers began to call in and request that their instruments be built with “a nice-looking top” — far too vague a term for the tonewood scientists in Stevensville, Maryland. Thus, the 10-Top designation was born: a lofty status that requires a “clearly defined figure across the entire top,” leaving no doubt that the guitar will arrive capped with a superlative piece of timber.
