Amplify Your Acoustic and Keep Your Natural Tone

The LR Baggs Voiceprint DI uses the company’s breakthrough Voiceprint technology to preserve the unique tonality and character of your acoustic guitar when it’s amplified. Developed over three years, Voiceprint uses an advanced proprietary impulse response to capture your guitar’s acoustic voice and map it onto the amplified signal for a jaw-droppingly natural sound. While the technology is complex, using it is anything but. LR Baggs Acoustic Live smartphone app — available for both iOS and Android — guides you through the voice mapping process, which consists of a few taps on the bridge, some strumming, and some picking. That’s it! The Voiceprint DI pedal saves your acoustic’s voice map, and you’re ready for your next show! And if all of that wasn’t enough, Voiceprint technology hunts down your guitar’s feedback-prone resonances so that you can notch out potential squelch-inducing frequencies. Voiceprint DI also includes a fully-parametric EQ and can store up to 99 presets on the Voiceprint DI pedal and many more on the app. Guitarists at Sweetwater are sticklers about their acoustic tone, and the ultra-real sound of the Voiceprint DI has blown them away!

LR Baggs Voiceprint DI Features:

  • Retains the natural character of your acoustic when amplified
  • Powered by groundbreaking Voiceprint IR technology
  • Acoustic Live smartphone app guides you through the voice capture process, mapping your tone in minutes (iOS/Android)
  • Store up to 99 instrument presets on the Voiceprint DI pedal
  • Includes a fully-parametric EQ and feedback-eliminating technology

A Worthy Upgrade from the LR Baggs Venue

At first i was skeptical but after watching the LR Baggs discussion with Aaron Short Music, i was sold. Props to Sweetwater for the fast international delivery.

I bought this pedal to replace the lr baggs venue in my acoustic pedalboard and oh what an upgrade. Most people will compare this to the tonedexter but i haven't tried that. I can only compare it to using IR's in the helix.

The problem i have with 3rd party ir's is that it is not my guitar. Its a hit and miss. Most of the time, i end up eq'ing the heck out of the thing to make it sound right.

But with the voiceprint, it makes it so effortless to make an ir of your guitar. No need to think about which mics, mic placements, and recording techniques. Don't expect a piezo equipped guitar to sound amazing. I still think you need a good sounding pickup to begin with.

I have a taylor 214ce and a gs mini both having es-2 systems. The es2 is very low mid heavy and boxy sounding. Its a decent sound that is punchy and cuts through a full band pretty well but it still sound like a pickup. To me, it lacks a lot of high end. The voiceprint brings it to life and makes it sound natural. The es2 is one of those systems that gives voiceprint a good platform.

Comparing it to my piezo ust equipped guitar (PRS P20 parlor), it gets rid of that piezo quack and that harsh transient that ust pickup are known for but to me it still sound like a pickup. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice sound. Comparing the bypassed and processed sound, it is really a big difference but it doesnt sound as natural as it did with my Taylor guitars. For a lack of a better word, it lacks the wooden sound i love about acoustic guitars.

The voiceprint is only 1/3 of the feature. The feedback module also makes it effortless to dial out feedback. My favorite feature though is the eq. After making the voiceprint, you can further shape the tone to your liking. It brings the power of using parametric eq of a DAW in a pedal format.

Lastly, having presets for different guitars is a plus.

The answer to piezo quack

I wanted to eliminate the piezo quack in my Ibanez AW54CE. I tried a soft attack pickup but it was still there. I tried the venerable PADI. Still there.

The Voiceprint is the answer. With my Samsung phone's microphone I was able to easily make IR maps for strumming and fingerstyle that have me in disbelief that the guitar is even going through the PA it sounds so natural. I couldn't believe my ears.

At times, getting the box to "talk" to the mobile app can take a minute, but making usable IRs is extremely easy and the Voiceprint is the piece de resistance of my acoustic-electric pedalboard.

It even makes the ES2 sound good!

Mandolin Players - This Is for You, Too!

I know that finding the right gear for mando can be difficult, as people online don't post as much about it. But I regularly gig playing mando and guitar (mostly mando) and I am using the Voiceprint live. K&K Pure Mini pickup, and voiceprint of my instrument. Straight to PA. Sounds fantastic. The K&K already does a great job amplifying your instrument, and the Voiceprint somehow pushes it further.

Of course it sounds great with my guitar (Taylor Expression 2 system, 214ce guitar). Both these instruments have about the same output before the DI so they work great sharing. Just flip the patches back and forth when switching.

Making the patches was easy, and honestly I didn't need to deep dive edit anything. First try, perfect. Easy instructions, easy to use for a non-technical person. Highly recommend.

Keeps your acoustic sound when you're amplified

I love the sound of my Taylor K24ce and didn't want to lose that warmth when plugging in.
This pedal does everything they say it does and more. I've got separate settings for fingerpicking,
rhythm, and lead. You can adjust the EQ to suit your tastes for each setting. It really allows me
to maintain that sweet acoustic sound when I'm plugged in. I've paired it with the LR Baggs reverb
and their delay pedal and I'm loving the sound I'm getting. The app is user-friendly and provides
a lot of flexibility.
NOTE: play around with the voice setting. I've found that somewhere between 50-70% is an ideal
mix for my acoustics.

GET IT.

OK I'll keep this brief. It's worth it if you care about your sound in the monitors. The audience might not know it but YOU'RE worth it so I say get it.
