Brought life to my Vox AV30!

I've had my Vox AV30 amp for about a year now. I purchased right here at the best toy store in the world, Sweetwater.com, the same place I've bought nearly all my guitars and amps from in the last 13 years since discovering them.

I really like it. I can dial in any tone my limited skills could ever desire, but I knew the speaker was the weak spot in the amp from the start. In particular the bass was flabby. I was considering a new amp for $ but since I am on a tight budget and love my Vox, I decided it would be a much wiser investment to upgrade the speaker. After some research I felt the VT Junior was likely the best option for my budget, sound desired, and a good match for my amp.

Research pays off as I was right, the Celestion is a big upgrade from the stock speaker, most notably my bass is now cleaner and has much more definition and tightness. It took about 15 seconds to get a huge smile on my face, and I now feel like my amp sounds as good or better than the few models I was considering in the $ range.

And given the killer deal I got from Sweetwater on the amp when they were on closeout about this time last year,I have a ridiculously good amp for under $. Thank you to Celestion for making great speakers, and of course Sweetwater who has a lifelong customer in me. Also, a personal shout out to my personal Sales Advisor Tim Burgess!!

My upgraded amp and new Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60s are so great I now have no excuse for not improving my playing skills!

Better than the last

Disclaimer: I have very limited experience comparing 10 inch guitar speakers, and I still think I prefer 12's. I can say that the Celestion VT Jr. did improve my Supro 1970RK. It was subtle, yes, but it seemed to smooth out a resonant peak that was sometimes pretty annoying. It's easier to dial in a great tone, whether clean or filthy fuzzed out insanity, without much fuss.

Celestion VT-Junior 10” speaker for BF Princeton reissue

The stock Jenson speaker was good at volume 2-3, treble set at 6, bass set at 5, Fender strat. Once going to band jam volume 4.5, treble set at 6, the bass had to lower to 2. Speaker would then sound harsh, and felt like it wanted to jump out of the amp. Then I changed the speaker to the Celestion VT junior 10". I now play at volume 4.5 with treble at 6, bass at 5, with the strat. The clean BF tone is there and the treble is still there, bass is tight, and the tone is so much warmer than the stock speaker. I love the sparkly highs with a ton of warmth that this speaker delivers. Great for lead tone as well. When using a Les Paul humbucker guitar. The amp is louder at 4.5, but still stays clean and warm. I came this close to getting a larger amp with more clean head room. I've had this amp for 7 years. My only regret is not swapping the speaker out sooner.

Amplifier Resurrection

I love my Fender 65 PRRI amp, but not the stock Jensen speaker, so I wrote to Doc Celestion at the Clestion factory in England. He suggested I try the VT jr and I could not be happier. My amp is a lot louder and more powerful than before and it picks up harmonics and overtones with a lot more clarity and beauty. Love me some VT jr!!!

Great replacement speaker upgrade

The speaker in a friend's Fender Frontman 25r from the 90's blew, so I replaced it for her with this Celestion. What a great improvement. The amp was being used for an open jam and was getting some heavy use. I replaced the 25 watt speaker with a 50 watt speaker so there wouldn't be a chance of of it blowing again by careless jammers. The tone of the amp improved tremendously. I'm glad I bought this speaker and I would highly recommend it. Thanks also to Brian Sheehan at Sweetwater for the prompt service and expediting my order.
