Discreet Acoustic Grand Piano Miking System with CORE Amp Technology

DPA's CORE amplifier design brings improved specs — lower distortion and increased dynamic range — to the already celebrated line of DPA d:vote 4099 miniature microphones. This results in even greater clarity, openness, and consistency onstage, for studio-quality sound in virtually any live environment.

The DPA d:vote CORE 4099P acoustic grand piano microphone system promises clean, faithful sound and high gain-before-feedback. Lifelike stereo imaging is possible with minimal setup thanks to the included holders, which rest directly on the piano's frame, and articulating gooseneck, which position mics in the sweet spot — all without blocking sight lines or cluttering your stage. DPA is well regarded for the quality of its studio mics. Now you can take DPA performance to go with the DPA d:vote CORE 4099P piano mic system from Sweetwater.

Studio-grade sound, even onstage

The DPA d:vote CORE 4099P brings the sonic attributes of DPA's legendary studio microphones to a convenient, low-profile piano miking solution. The CORE 4099P's capsules and mounting system are specially designed for live-miking acoustic grand piano, ensuring you get the best possible sound wherever you perform.

CORE amplifier technology

DPA's CORE amplifier design reduces total harmonic distortion (THD) across the audible frequency spectrum and extends dynamic range by as much as 14dB (varies between Loud SPL and Extreme SPL capsule types). So whether you're playing subtle pianos or exuberant fortissimos, CORE helps your instrument come across as clean, clear, and robust, without compromise.

Natural tone. High output.

DPA's d:vote CORE 4099 microphones are tonally tailored to complement a wide range of stage instruments, with a tight supercardioid polar pattern for high gain-before-feedback. With the purchase of optional mounts, the CORE 4099P's two included mics can be used where all other CORE 4099 for Loud SPL mics are used.

Tough enough for touring

Despite its size, the DPA d:vote CORE 4099P system is quite rugged. Its durable goosenecks provide stable and repeatable positioning, night after night, with a mounting system that's discreet and instrument safe.

Wired or wireless operation

The DPA d:vote CORE 4099P can be used as a standard phantom-powered wired mic system via its included XLR connectors. With optional adapters, it's compatible with virtually any wireless system.

DPA d:vote CORE 4099P for Loud SPL Piano Microphone System Features:

  • Meticulously designed to capture acoustic grand piano live
  • Offers studio-grade sound with superb gain-before-feedback
  • CORE amplifier design reduces THD and increases dynamic range
  • Rugged enough to meet touring demands

Excellent mics for piano and other instruments

These mics reproduce the acoustic sound of pianos (as well as orchestral stringed instruments, mandolins, banjos, brass, woodwinds, and accordions) so well. The gain before feedback is excellent, and rejection of other sources is superb. I use these mics on tour, and they never disappoint. The piano magnetic mounts are brilliant, and allow for placement anywhere on the piano soundboard (they also work on uprights). Since DPA also makes a whole line of mounts, including a universal mount, the mics are very flexible for various applications and instruments.
I highly recommend these for anyone looking for precision, and flexibility when working with pianos, orchestral, acoustic, bluegrass, and Americana applications.

DPA 4099

This microphone is one of the purest and most natural sounding microphones I have heard in years. I use it on strings in the orchestra. Drums and the Piano set up is top notch. Just did a live show on a 9 foot Steinway. Sounded like I was in the studio. No feedback issues what so ever.

Amazing piano mics

Sound is absolutely wonderful, clean and clear. Mounting magnets make placement on the soundboard a breeze.

DPA 4099-piano

I've been mixing live audio from small churches to stadiums as well as live TV award shows and this mic is absolutely the best for this situation. The mounting system allows the most ease & flexibility of anything I've tried and the quality of the mic is unmatched. An incredibly high gain before feedback ratio is possible with these mics and they sound like a large diaphragm mic.

Worthwhile Upgrade, Great for Live Sound

Yeah they're expensive but they're a versatile stereo piano mic set. Really even sound, and clear. You can move them around and the magnets let them be shifted wherever you want really. The only fault I'd give them is just that they don't have that much low end (with no EQing done in post) compared to say the EarthWorks stereo mic set for pianos. But that's over twice the cost of these and you can always just.. you know.. use an EQ, or move the mics around to get more low end closer to the rear of the piano. At the price these are, I'm pretty thrilled with the upgrade over the old setup we had and don't plan on changing these.
