Timeless Ovation Design Meets Modern Electronics
The ageless sound of Ovation's beloved Ultra acoustic guitar has returned with some compelling upgrades. Its A-grade solid spruce top with composite fiberglass back and sides retain the aesthetics of its predecessor while providing a responsive, discernible tone. In addition to being entranced by the sound of this guitar's acoustics, you'll find the Khaya (African Mahogany) neck extremely easy to navigate, thanks to a soft-"V" profile, dovetail joint, and natural satin finish. The best part? The Ultra E boasts an entirely new K-21CT preamp and OCP-2000 pickup combo that’s fit with a meticulously positioned piezo for crisp sound and a 2-band EQ system for hands-on tone sculpting. If you’re looking for modern acoustic power but crave the comfort and homage of an age-old classic, your search will end with the Ovation Ultra E.

Solid spruce top and composite fiberglass produce novel acoustic tone
The Ultra E’s thermo-treated solid spruce top simulates 15 years of changing seasons to develop a more mature, well-balanced sound with ample response. When paired with composite fiberglass back and sides, the Ultra E churns out warm lows with significant resonance and clarity — a tonal mixture sought by acoustic legends for decades. But the perks don't stop there. This unique design doesn’t just enhance your sound. Sweetwater guitarists have found the Ultra E also provides a comfortable, contoured playing field that feels natural on any stage you decide to play on.
Fresh K-21CT preamp and OCP-2000 pickup combo
The new K-21CT and OCP-2000 preamp/pickup duo changes the game of acoustic tone shaping. Up-to-date piezo materials, more precise placement, and increased glass content for the string saddles make the OCP-2000 Ovation’s most accurate pickup to date. When passed through the K-21CT preamp, the Ultra E 1516 provides well-defined mids and unique string separation, all of which are adjustable with 2-band bass and treble control, allowing this acoustic to stand out sonically during any performance. Finally, a built-in chromatic tuner with simple 9-volt battery operation will ensure your intonation on and off the stage is nothing short of perfect.
Ovation: a history of innovation
Founded by Charles Kaman in 1965, the Ovation Guitar Company is known for producing instruments with composite synthetic bowls rather than conventional wood backs and sides. An aeronautical engineer by trade, Charles felt there were weaknesses in traditional acoustic guitar designs and that some of the composite materials he used to build helicopters could control the instruments' vibrations. By utilizing the distinctive parabolic bowl that Ovation guitars have since become known for, Charles found that he could drastically reduce feedback, allowing for greater amplification onstage. Since the development of onboard electronics, Ovation has become one of the world's most popular brands of acoustic-electric guitars, endorsed by such artists as Glen Campbell, Nancy Wilson, Steve Lukather, Al Di Meola, and Melissa Etheridge.
